BOTTICELLO - GRAPE DESIGN Steel Wing Corkscrew, Italy

I have not used this yet. But, when I opened the amazing packing I was surprised at the quality. It is gorgeous and heavy duty.

I purchased the same corkscrew at a Vineyard about 20 years ago. After 20 years of use, it still looks great but one of the pins became a bit loose and falls out once in awhile. Even though I just tap the pin back in with a hammer, I decided to see if I could get a brand new one on Amazon. I was amazed to see that the identical corkscrew is still available. When I received the new one, I was even more amazed to see that 20 years later the company still produces the same solid, high quality construction. As you can see in the picture, the only difference between the brand new one and the old one is 20 years worth of patina.

This is simple and effective. I like the weight of it, I bought this se model for my sister 20 plus years ago and it is still in a drawer somewhere at her house, getting use. I had a powered wine cork remover for three years before it died, but that I had to leave plugged in all the time, glad to go back to the regular model.

It looks great, but it's not very sharp and has a hard time getting into the cork.

The corkscrew to own. Perfect tip angle penetrates corks nicely without destroying them like most modern corkscrews do.

I really don't understand the good reviews. I searched for "Heavy Duty Corkscrew," and this was one of the results. It is the opposite of heavy duty. It's all style and no substance. The parts are assembled such that it is loose and sloppy. The arms don't start moving up until after several turns of the screw handle and they top out with the scree often not inserted deeply enough in the cork, so you have to turn it more after levering the arms down.

Used this for the last 8 months. Still going strong. It's heavy duty and gets the job done. Makes a good gift, not your ordinary wine opener. The plastic piece that fits around the opening where the cork screw is move sometimes, but you just push it back up and it stays fine.

I thought this was stainless steel or something but it's coated with a silver material that came already chipped off. Not the quality I paid for.
