Great value for clean water
I have only had this pitcher for a day, but am really happy to finally have filtered water. The pitcher itself is great for the price. It assembles easy, is easy on the eyes, is slim and is completely functional. I haven't had any problem with pouring as some reviews have mentioned, not even when pouring faster than necessary, and I believe it has to do with a plastic arc that was engineered on the pouring side of the filtering bucket. It carries plenty of water for two people, especially as it filters the next pitcher in under 5 minutes. There is a very obvious difference in taste. The water this produces is, actually, near tasteless (a testament to all the stuff in my tap water!), pristine, and refreshing. The biggest difference I noticed was making espresso with an entry level home espresso maker. It was a noticeable compliment to the e.s.e. pods I was using at the time and can only imagine what a better brand of pods will taste like. The Americano it produced was really tasty! Some minor notes to avoid some of problems mentioned in other reviews: Follow the instructions before using this! Soak the filter for 15 minutes in cold water then rinse with cold water. Discard the first three pitchers of water to avoid carbon dust in your water! Use this water for plants. This will suit me perfectly as I use it to keep 20oz water bottles full in the fridge and to make coffee. I drink water from an Intak water bottle and was using a regular pitcher (which I will also think about keeping full with the filtered water) for refilling, this is a great way to always have water ready. The only downfall I can really see is that it seems pretty fragile, but for the price, I wouldn't expect better. I can't imagine getting something better for this price!

Bought one, gave away, bought another
There's not much to this unit, and that's what's nice. It's a filter and container. No status indicators, meters, LEDs... No rubber washers to fall out or need replacing, no special flipping lids or stylish, impractical proportions.Fill the top with water. It can take some time to drain/filter to the bottom (which is good). Fill it again so as you use up the bottom, it fills again without having to refill. When it's time to clean it, remove the filter and clean the top and bottom separately -- plenty of space for your hands in both. We rarely need to clean ours and it's never gotten discolored. It takes up very little "floor space" in your fridge, yet has never been too tall for the 6-7 fridges we've stored it in. Had one of these about 4 years and seem to replace the filter about annually (you can tell when it starts draining fast and you might see some residue depending on what isn't being filtered out of your water). Filter just lifts out, new one drops in -- 10 seconds. And of course the big question, yes, it does make a difference in the taste of water. We've lived in places with overly soft and hard water, and in all cases, this improves it. Water immediately has less of or no smell after filtering. More noticeable is that it removes residue. For example, in several places we lived, you could see white residue left in pots used for boiling -- but if we poured from this into the pots, no residue.Only gripe: between two people, we have to refill it daily and this can take a few minutes if you fill it, wait for it to drain, and load up the top again. Filling can also be inconvenient since having any dishes in the sink means you can't fit it under the faucet.I would strongly recommend this -- cost savings over bottled water are enormous, it makes water taste better and leave less debris behind, and even just as a pitcher it's simple, sturdy, holds a good amount for 2-3 people, and doesn't take up too much space for its volume.

Fantastic product, and great for college students!!
I live in NYC, where the water is safe and clean-tasting straight from the tap...so when I moved into college in Pennsylvania, I could not drink the water here. There's a lot of chlorine in PA water, and drinking it was literally like taking a gulp of pool water, which was even worse for me, since I'm used to such clean tap water. After a couple weeks, my roommate and I both started getting sick from drinking the water. I couldn't afford to keep buying bottled water, and was dehydrating frequently, which was also getting me sick. Clearly, there was a huge problem. So, I invested in one of these. BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. I can not think of ANY better way I could have spent $11. My roommate and I immediately noticed a difference in the appearance of the water- it was crystal clear, whereas before it was cloudy and had tiny white things floating around in it. It also took away the chlorine taste COMPLETELY. Neither of us have gotten sick since using it.It's really great for a dorm room, too. We have a micro-fridge unit in our dorm, and it fits perfectly on the small shelf inside the door (It is about the width of one standard water bottle.) It holds a pretty decent amount of water for 2 people. It fills about 2-3 water bottles before you have to refill it. We fill it about 2-4 times a day, but we find that it's really not any hassle at all- whenever we go to the bathroom, we just fill a large plastic bottle with water on the way back and then pour it in. Takes no time at all.In short, this pitcher is easy to store and use, comes at an amazing price, and is a great source of clean, fresh, safe tap water.
