Don't Get Steamed UP
My 20 year old Saab 93 SE Convertible had started to steam up badly when it rained. After some investigation, I found this was due to the fabric hood having become porous and letting water through, as I could feel the inside of the hood fabric was saturated when it rained. I have re-proofed it before using an Autoglym product which worked OK but I found using the spray bottle it was supplied in was very wasteful, plus their products are quite expensive. After some research I found Grangers Fabsil UV which gets great reviews and can be applied by brush. As I also have have a slightly newer Saab 93 Aero Convertible (10 years old) I purchased the 2.5 litre can of this product so that I could reproof both cars hoods. The first step in the application is to clean the hood thoroughly using a basic liquid soap (low suds) and I did this several times to remove as much road dirt, algae and lichen as possible. The second step is to allow the roof to dry out thoroughly, I used an electric warm air blower (set on low heat only) inside the car to accelerate the process. Once dry I started the application process using a 2" paint brush, you have to be careful not to overload the paint brush and you have to apply and brush it quickly and in multiple directions to ensure coverage and overlap with previous applied areas. I measured out 200ml at a time and covered a quarter of the hood at a time in sections. On the first coat I wasn't sure if I was wetting the fabric evenly, so once I had completed one coat I started a second coat. On the second coat it was much more obvious that the areas were completely coated as when using the brush in multiple directions the surface would foam very slightly and evenly as I covered it. I completed the second coat having used approximately 1litre of the proofer in total. I allowed 24hrs for the product to dry/soak in and then examined the results, which I have to say were impressive as the proofer had darkened down the fabric evenly, significantly reducing any signs of age related bleaching. I few days later it rained lightly and I was encouraged to see the droplets balling on the fabric. Since then I have checked the inside of the fabric after several down pours and can feel no dampness at all. Most recently we had our first frost and as the sun came round and melted it the water balled up and shone like jewels. I have now applied this product to my second 93 convertible with the same results. In summary, so far this product has proven to be excellent in value, ease of application and performance.

Wont use anything else. EVER..
Amazing stuff always used nix wax for coats etc got a bottle of this and it blew my mind.done trainersand a coat so got this larger tin cause I was so impressed and its cheaper to buy the bigger. So far have done 2 pairs of kids trainers totally water proof and a cotton coat that never was and now is waterproof and my outside cushion Covers. Paint it on and dries pretty quickly it doesn't have a nasty smell and smell goes once dry. Loads left in tin, because you pant it on it waterproof s the stitches too. When the rain hits the fabric it just beads up and rolls of no absorption at a kids love watching it one coat has lasted 6 months and been battered with the weather I do playground duty at work ins very open windy exposed no shelter part of Yorkshire and has kept me extremely dry. Cant reccomend highly enough. Waited to wrote review so I could do honest opinion after 6 months of using.also raved about at school and few colleagues have bought it as they saw the results..

Easy to use
Great and easy product to use covered six man tent with little left over to do our awning. We used a sprayer to cover top as we couldn’t reach, but would recommend using a brush as much as possible as sprayer used more of the product. Says on product to wipe after applying we didn’t get chance as it dries really quickly. Not yet tested during camping

Waterproofed 5 man tent, great product.
Following our last camping trip we found that our tent starting to leak. Following two coats of fabsil the tent is better than new no more leaks or dripping seams. This is a great product that will extend the life of the tent.It is easy to use, simply apply with a paint brush and wipe over with a cloth. The 2.5 litre tin was enough to do two generous coats with about 1/5 of the tin left. Tent measured 3.3m wide, 4.7m long by 1.95m tall.

Really works
I bought a garden gazebo and missed the part where it said that it's only shower proof and not water proof. So the day after I set it up it rained and water was going through it like a sieve and the garden furniture under it was soaking. I got this product and coated the gazebo as soon as it dried. It rained a few times since, even heavy rain, and not a single drop went through it. The water just runs down it like from a duck's back. So happy with it. I applied it with a foam paint roller and used half of it on a 3x3 gazebo.

Worth buying, save your canvas.
I just bought a trailer tent, we stayed in it when it rained heavily and quickly realised that the canvas was leaking. I researched what to use and this product kept coming up with really good reviews so I bought it to try out. Quick delivery, there were mixed reviews about how to apply it either spraying or using a paint brush, because I've never used this before I wanted to make sure I was applying this on all over so I opted to use a paintbrush. Firstly there isn't a strong smell to it at all, the consistency is like petrol without the smell, easy to apply very straightforward I applied in small patches making sure I covered every inch and used a cloth to wipe it down, that's why I recommend using a paintbrush so you can see where you are applying your coat. I should have ordered a bigger can I used 2 2.5 liter cans. All in all this stuff really works as we took it camping our first night away it rained heavily the canvas was dry not a leak insight, I am so chuffed with myself for being so vigilant and applying fabsil everywhere I could, it's an amazing product.
