Who Ever Thought a Workbook Would Be Provocative?
Every one of us needs to improve our communication skills. We each have built-in assumptions, biases, habits, etc. that limit our ability to understand another person, as well as limiting our own self-expression.Why is this workbook provocative? Because the format, and the questions, provoke and challenge the reader to first look closely at our self. I was taken aback by the amount of time and text spent on this topic. It was worthwhile and rewarding. Even doing a few of the exercises, I was challenged about my own sense of self-value.When I was about 12 years old, I enjoyed building model cars and model airplanes. All of the parts were provided in an organized fashion, with clear instructions. It was up to me to get the glue and put it together. I found this workbook to be much the same: it is well-organized, has clear instructions and distinct parts. Once I made the effort through some repetition and practice, to put the pieces of the workbook together, I discovered a greater self-awareness, and improved listening skills. A big "thank you" to the author.

For Me, It's All About Listening. You Too?
This little workbook, a companion to Leal's important guide, "4 Essential Keys to Effective Communication." helps you get down to the nitty-gritty and actually DO SOMETHING to make changes in your relationships. For me, the most important aspect of Leal's work is the focus on LISTENING. Put another way, this is "being there 100% for the other person in the relationship." The Listening Blocks exercise is powerful. I urge you to get this workbook and run these exercises for yourself. I'll bet you don't know half of what you learn about yourself in this exercise alone! There is no question that Leal's work is beneficial. We can all talk about how important this is for our culture, how much it is needed, etc. What I want to say is: "I need these skills myself, and this workbook is a very valuable companion for making changes."If any of this resonates, pick up a copy along with the book—you and those you love and work with will be very glad you did!

one of the simplest, easy to follow workbooks I have seen
This workbook, though "only" a follow up to the amazing book "4 Essential Keys to Effective Communication....." is really valuable as a guide and to coach those of us who want to improve our listening and speaking skills.Valuable tips for every relationship we encounter - listening well really helps us connect to the speaker, whether spouse, friend, co-worker or casual contact - with tips and suggestions, that can give us tools to help us grasp more clearly, remember more, and understand better, the person speaking to us.I know, it sounds like patronizing and insincere praise!! But this is such a valuable resource, based on research, and ideas that WE CAN PROVE TO OURSELVES, just by trying it out. Mr Leal has really helped me to be a better listener and to "empathize" more sincerely in all my relationships.Thank you Mr Leal.

Great tool for my practice
I recently read ‘Four Essential Keys to Effective Communication’ by Bento Leal, a very practical way to assist anyone in relationship in making certain that what one is thinking is what one says, and that the response is understood as well. The accompanying workbook provides easy to follow activities and insights that allow two people, whether they are a couple, classmates, siblings, friends or parent and child to overcome the tendency to feel misunderstood or to misunderstand and come out of an encounter with tools—not weapons—for further relationships. I am using this duo in my clinical practice and seeing very positive results.

This Workbook is a God-Send
Mr. Leal’s Official Workbook, a companion to his earlier book “4 Essential Keys to Effective Communication“ is simply awesome! This workbook gives the reader a valuable opportunity to practice and explore their daily communication skills. There are many opportunities in the workbook to self-reflect. Personally, I have a struggle listening to people, especially my kids. So, this workbook is truly a God-Send for me. It’s full of exercises, worksheets, self-reflections, and examples that can help me to change and hopefully help me to improve my relationships with not only my kids but everyone I meet. The workbook is very easy to read and go through. If you desire to improve your relationships with your spouse, children, parents, co-workers, etc., this is the workbook for you.
