Purchased this honing guide to replace the one that came with the knife sharpening stone kit that was not good.This guide is angled to hold chisels more securely in place and the wider roller keeps chisels flat with less chance of applying too much force to one side or other. It also heavier than the one from the kit telling me better materials and it has smoother operation both clamping and rolling.

I believe this works best it compatible with the stone tracks. A bit awkward to hold at a consistent angle.

I needed one of these to help me maintain the perfect angle for my hand planes and chisels. I can and hace for a long time sharpened them by hand, but this guided system actually makes it way easier. I professionally sharpen knives by hand without guides, but when it comes to hand planes and chisels, I prefer a guide like this just to ensure I am 100% matching the factory grind angle without ANY deviation. When it comes to a precision tool like a hand plane, I don't want even the slightest of mistakes.I didn't want to spend a ton of money on one, as I mentioned, I was doing this by hand without a guide, but it was way slower as I ensured I held my angle each time.. This little guy lets me zip right through it without much thought (once you set it and get used to it)10 / 10, would recommend, and the price is definitely the deal breaker! It's made of quality parts and I don't think it will break on you.

excellent sharpening guide- very stable with three rollers- well made

At first I wanted to give this item a 4 star review, unfortunately that was mainly based on the idea that the ball bearings were easily replaceable, as it looks like you should be able to just unscrew the guide and replace them, but that is not the case, if you try to unscrew this past the maximum chisel width it simply stops so disassembly to replace ball bearings is not a simple process at all. Another thing I am not a huge fan of is that it cannot accommodate a 1/8" chisel, that's a bit of a bummer to me. That said, overall I could still recommend this chisel sharpening guide for most people's use, it definitely feels high quality made in comparison to other items available online, it also does have positive retention of the chisel and also decent retention of a planing blade so no worries about them slipping out during sharpening. Overall I'd still call this a good value at 14 dollars, just not an ideal feature full item.

Buen producto. Bien manufacturado. Lo voy a usar para afilar formones. Si bien hay marcas indicando ángulos de 25 y 30 grados, creo que no habría que fiarse demasiado y tratar de ajustar el ángulo deseado de otra forma. Estoy satisfecho con la compra.

For the money it those what is suppose to but you need to make sure you adjust it just right if not it will change the angle spending how much you let out of the vise
