Comprehensive review of Hasbro’s attack type Beyblade X Beystadium.
The media could not be loaded. The Hasbro collaboration with Japanese toy manufacturer, Takara Tomy (TT) has produced this Beyblade X Xtreme Battle Set. It comes with a smaller profile Xtreme Beystadium which is noticeably shorter in size than the TT version, 2 [budget] winder launchers with “T-handle” ripcords, and 2 X-gen beys (Beyblades/ Japanese spinning tops). My set arrived safe and unscathed in the tight box (see my demo video), which needed to be smaller so that it takes up less shelf space in western markets (or so I am told by my sources). This Hasbro Beystadium comes with a safety shroud (thankfully) to protect you from flying metal Beyblades while they are zooming around and colliding at high speeds. Like the TT stadium, it was easy to figure out the correct orientation to attach the transparent plastic shroud to the black plastic stadium base since it can only fit on one way. The plastic is of the quality you can expect from TT (and not Hasbro, so thumbs up there), which is flexible yet sturdy enough for our needs. It attaches at four specific areas via 4 small black clasps that look more akin to the Hasbro style stadium clasps, just with TT quality and function. I found it rather hard to push the clasps into place but with enough force they went in nicely and held rather firmly. In my testings, the Beyblade X beys (both TT and Hasbro Beys work well) were able to use the accelerator rails gimmick cohesively and the 2 corner pockets or “Over Zone” pockets were able to catch and slow knocked-out beys for an “Over Finish” (worth 2 points for the ‘blader’ who knocked it out). The larger central pocket called the “Xtreme Zone” is where a blader gets awarded 3-points for knocking the opponent into it, and this act is called an “Xtreme Finish.” Unlike the TT stadium, however, this Hasbro stadium seems to [almost] always fully catch beys and prevent them from returning to the stadium floor. The green gear tracts surrounding edges of the black stadium floor are the “accelerator rails.” This accelerator tract leads beys by the “bit” (the lower sprocket part of the Beyblade that makes contact with the stadium floor and rails) gear teeth to speed around at a faster pace and, in theory, collide with the other Beyblade in the center of the stadium, thereby knocking it towards the Over and Extreme Zones. The rails allow attack type beys to push out opponents but also allow for defense, balance, and stamina type beys to counterstrike, and it also allows for self-KOs as well. Maybe too many self K.O.’s, IMHO. Sometimes the beys get trapped in weird places, like on the side of or behind the rail tract and then inevitably grind down to a “Spinout Finish” or “Survivor Finish,” (the out-spinning blader is awarded 1-point). When the Beys “burst” or fall apart during battle, it is called a “Burst Finish” (2 instant points for the blader who caused the burst to happen) supposedly in honor of the previous Burst generation of Beyblade. The 2 winder beylaunchers that come with this are of a cheaper design, and are annoyingly tiny, albeit much better in materials than the Burst Generation starter sets from Hasbro (which has been known to use cheaper and weaker grades of plastic in the past as a cost-cutting measure). Lastly, the 2 beyblades that come with this set are Dagger Dran 4-60R (Rush bit), and Tusk Mammoth 3-60T (Tapered bit). As an attack type, Dagger Dran attempts to K.O. it’s opponent with a smash attack using the acclaimed “Rush” bit (R) which when compared to its predecessor’s bit, Flat (Sword Dran’s bit), Rush has a smaller diameter tip, and less gears. This results in less stamina wasted, and more K.O. opportunities with more Xtreme Dashes. Tusk Mammoth is a Hasbro exclusive Beyblade and it is not sold by TT (although it is still produced in the same facility with the same materials in Vietnam). It uses a 3-pronged ratchet and the Tapered bit (T). As a balance type, it does a little of everything but is not consistent at performing great in any of those categories. Therefore, it is not often considered to be a dominant force in competitive play. In conclusion, this is a great attack type set for anyone to start off their Beyblade X experience. I think that the Hasbro Xtreme stadium is better for attack type beys, and since the heart of the game with Beyblade X is the accelerator rail, it is only natural that this particular Beystadium highlight that very essence. Before opening this Hasbro set, I had hoped to see both the Hasbro and TT Beyblade X Beys able to interact properly with the accelerator rail gimmick as was intended, and… Yes, it was much better than I had expected. My only criticism is that when directly compared to the TT Beyblade X stadium set, I prefer the TT stadium because I do not think these Beyblades are supposed to exclusively and repeatedly follow the path of the accelerator rail. Let’s face it, the self-K.O.s happen too fast and too frequently. The battles are supposed to be longer in duration and more balanced out. The fact that this set comes with an exclusive beyblade does sweeten the deal, but I assert that it is the attack type battle dynamic of the Hasbro stadium that is the best selling point for this stadium set. Now is it worth it to purchase this stadium only because the attacks are exciting and more frequent? Maybe, maybe not. It really is up to your own personal preference. This Hasbro Beyblade X Xtreme Battle set is okay despite the bey-lanchers being cramped and the beyblades that it comes with being…. mediocre… But, oh! Those exciting matches between attack type bladers! Other sets that come with different parts can be used in this stadium, which I can imagine that in due time will result in some crazy fun matches. The only thing left for me to say here is…. 3 2 1, Let it rip!

Fun stadium to battle in
Bought this for my nephew. He loved the Beyblades that came with it, he played with them all day. Overall, a good product but kind of Pricie.

Frustrating at first, fun once you have it
The media could not be loaded. My son made a breakdown video showing off how it works. Easy to use. The beyblade doesn’t stay locked in the best as you can see in the video. It seems to fall with any little pull of the string. As an adult it’s pretty fun to play with him.
