WORTH THE EXTRA $$$ over LED or LCD!!!
If you purchase this (K-65XR80) Bravia 8 tv... YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY MISTAKES!!! We're still using the earlier models of Sony LED and LCD Bravia sets in our house and one of the 65" LCD sets lost it's backlighting. This is our first OLED set and we never knew what we had been missing all this time! The difference in details and colors, it's like comparing a digital signal to analog signal ALL OVER AGAIN!!! All our sets are on the walls, If you're a wall hanger like us, just know this 65" only weighs 42lbs, wife and I hung it and we're both 66yrs old, the old 65"LCD we replaced was much heavier and not so easy to get down off the wall. Some reviews said that this set is hard to get set up in settings, gets extremely hot, powers off...blah, blah.... we breezed through settings very easily and after that we watched 3 movies back to back and yes it got a little warm, but that's to be expected with OLED technology... same as your phone when you've been using it for a long time. We do not have any complaints about this set and the only difficulty is going to another room to watch one of the other Bravia LED or LCD sets, they are not so great anymore. We will only be buying OLED from now on!

Best TV brand on earth.
I bought a 55” Sony Bravia LCD flatscreen TV back in 2005 when they weighed 2 tons and cost around $3K. I still have it and it runs beautifully. Matter of fact, I had to put my new 2024 60” Samsung TV away because that TV couldn’t live up to the quality of the Bravia’s picture. With that being said, the Bravia is quite literally the best TV I have ever owned. I bought 2 of these bad boys for the living room and I absolutely love them. Fantastic picture, vibrant colors, sharp images, and tons of customizations. I will never buy another brand of TV ever again. Bravia is the only way to go.

Awesome TV made unusable by Google
I don’t know what I was thinking. It makes no difference that I can see the Sony picture is beautiful when it takes literally hours upon hours to set it up and it is a fight every single step of the way. Google is the worst tv interface on .. was going to say the planet, but let’s go with Universe. I will likely be sending a gorgeous tv back because it is impossible to setup. Shame on Sony for being lazy and not developing something with the quality their hardware has. I own an LG and a Samsung tv in other parts of the house and they were both a breeze to setup.Update: changed from 1 star to 4. I persevered in the fight with Google TV and finally got it fully configured. I stand by everything I initially said about the setup process, but want to now give a review of the Bravia 8, especially as it compares to my Samsung and LG tv’s. There is absolutely no comparison when it comes to picture quality. Especially regarding color accuracy and overall depth. The Sony is king by a huge margin. I run the Sony in professional mode and it is stunning. There is almost an extra sharpness brought about by such an accurate picture. We watch allot of Prime video content and the curated video settings are amazing. Anything other than the vivid setting on the Samsung or LG is washed out and disappointing. Now that it is setup it is easy to use and I recommend it. The Bravia app for my phone is the best app remote control I have ever used. In fact I rarely reach for the tv remote and just use my phone.

BEWARE! Sony Software Update Ruined My TV
Prior to this event, I would have given 5-stars, but after this nightmare, never again will I purchase another Sony product. My TV was working just fine until a software update was applied on June 10, 2025. Since this update, the "Input-select" options, have become corrupted, and no longer function the way they have since I purchased this TV, and now requires the use of two remote controls followed by two button presses just to switch the 'Inputs' from one source to another. In an attempt to undue the update, I performed a complete factory reset, (which then requires an additional hour to reset all options and settings, Wifi, etc.), and have also conducted multiple restarts & power cycles, all to no avail. So, on June 13, 2025, I contacted Sony Technical Support for assistance, and to my dismay, was informed that Sony is unable to provide any fix or workaround, and I am simply "stuck" with a broken inoperable feature on my very expensive television due to "Sony's" own corrupted software update!Bottom line: If Sony breaks your TV due to their negligent software updates, too bad, just live with it!Final note: If you already own one of these, you may want to turn off your "Software Update" option.

So far so good- UPDATE!!
Day 1-item arrived early in the day, unboxing and set up were pretty straight forward. I am very happy with the display of this television. Everything works as it should and I believe I will remain happy with this purchase.Update and a "star" is deducted!Okay-so a mere 48 hours after receiving and setting up the TV, the ARC/eARCfunction on the TV stopped working! Just for no reason at all-it wasn't working, and it was impossible to reprogram ARC/eARC to work again. Wading through hell and high water, I just unplugged all the HDMI cables from the TV and my receiver. Unplugged the TV and the receiver. LEt them both sit for about 10 minutes. Reconnected everything and still did a hard reset on the TV and finally-i was able to assign HDMI ports and get sound to my receiver again! I hope I won't have to deduct another star. I really want to like this TV!Day 9-back to a 5 star rating. The Arc/eArc function on TV has been working properly for the past 7 days. I guess everything has settled in and TV has been everything I hoped it would be. I am pleased with this purchase.Update again-2 weeks later and the Arc/eArc feature is back to not working properly. it turns off my AV receiver, but it won't turn it on! I am keeping this at a 4 star. Very disappointing.Update June 2025- 4 months, 3 software updates, 1 remote control software update later and this TV is FINALLY operating correctly on a regular basis for the past 9 days. I put it back to a 5 star rating-but will keep my fingers crossed!
