Me Swoop complete the Dinobots, me simpler than others!
Transformers Studio Series 86 Swoop is the completion of the leader-class Dinobots, and like all of them, he's a big robotic dinosaur built to fight the worst Decepticons! He's a cool figure with great looks, and comes with his wing cannons, sword and Grimlock's sword. That said, he's a 4 out of 5 because he's a simpler toy than the other Dinobots, his articulation's a little underwhelming, his feet can collapse when picked up, and he's got some hollowness in the arms.Sculpting is really solid in both modes, there's a lot more detail than in the cartoon but it feels appropriate for the G1 character based on his toy as much as the show. There's not a single spot that doesn't have fine detailing going on except the head, and that's very much on purpose because this figure is conveying the cartoon character very well. His forearms are noticeably hollow on the inside, no covers at all. Due to a design quirk in transformation, the left side of his robot-mode chest doesn't want to collapse the last half-millimeter, but it's barely noticeable.Paint and coloring looks pretty good, they painted the wings slightly brighter silver like on the show, most of the rest is that dull silver plastic or detailed parts like the others. Most of the paint is thrown at the robot thighs and the dino head, and looks striking. Overall, his styling fits in well with the other SS86 Dinobots.Robot-mode articulation is mostly up to par with the other Dinobots, he can even raise his arms up for robot flight, but his head can't look up much to match. He has stuff like swivel wrists and waist, thigh swivels and ankle tilts; but his elbows only bend about 90 degrees. Moreover, his elbow, knee, and ankle articulation doesn't look all that nice when used, there's gaps and awkwardness not found in the other Dinobot figures. Beast mode articulation is limited to the wings, the tiny toes, the up-down neck, and the mouth, though the neck can also tuck in for sitting poses. One annoying thing is those feet: they work fine when properly transformed, but picking the figure up can easily dislodge them and at next glance they look nearly the same, but now have no support and fall backwards.Transformation is really simple, partly because Swoop was a simpler toy back in the day, partly because of the G1 cartoon's simplified beast design just leaving those robot arms in beast mode. The torso can be a bit tricky to transform back to robot the first couple times (pushing the backs of the shoulders is easiest) but it frees up after that.Beast mode is fairly straightforward because the G1 cartoon design was so bluntly simple. The cartoon's wingspan was a tad wider but this emulates the overall feel fine. The tiny pteranodon toes fold back for flight and up for sitting poses, a small but vital inclusion. The dino beak has a shortened jaw but still opens, and like the other Dinobots has a blast effect peg inside for any corresponding flame effects you might own. The robot arms pop out a tiny degree for some reason but you can just disconnect the wings from them for more movement.

So pretty I don't want to open it (but eventually my inner child will get the better of me lol)
What is better than having a Swoop? A studio series, extremely detailed leader class Swoop
