💡 Clear water, zero compromises—your tank’s new power move.
The TARARIUMAquarium Filter U-V is a submersible internal filter designed for 20-75 gallon tanks, featuring a 200 GPH pump and a 5W 254nm U-V light that eliminates algae and bacteria. Its dual-stage filtration system combines a biochemical sponge with U-V sterilization to deliver crystal clear, odor-free water in as little as 3 days. Separate switches provide flexible control over pump and light functions, while an external light indicator ensures easy monitoring. Ideal for freshwater, saltwater, and turtle tanks seeking professional-grade clarity and freshness.

Really great job clearing the algae from my aquarium!!
I wanted to wait and see how effective this UV filter was before writing a review. My 10 gallon aquarium always had a very bad problem with algae growth. I could clean it, replace the water but the algae would come back in about 2 weeks just as bad as before. I even had a UV bulb that I had placed in my regular TopFin filter but it didn't seem to work at all.I purchased the TARRARIUM CTUV-H4F (for 10-45 Gallon) UV filter back in April. I put it in and left it on 24/7 for about 2 weeks until I couldn't see any algae in the aquarium at all. I'm pleasantly surprised to say that it's been about 2-1/2 months and I haven't had to turn on the filter again. It's still in the aquarium (just in case), but I'm shocked at how well it worked. The internal foam filter was actually still clean after use.I recommend using this along with a regular aquarium filter. I would highly recommend this UV filter to anyone who has algae problems. I wish I had a before and after picture to show the results, but believe me, it really worked that great! It was really worth the price and now I can spend more time enjoying looking at the aquarium instead of cleaning it.

Pea Soup Killer
This filter is pretty dang amazing. I didn’t think it would work but I left it suctioned on the wall vertically, submersed in an 135 gallon turtle tank filled with about 80-100 gallons of water and the UV light on for 72 hours and the pea soup returned to broth. Am looking forward to seeing more clarity as the days go by. Came mostly assembled, just needed to plug in the air tube. Noise level is fine as it’s submersed. Can’t say much about the filtering quality without the UV as I’ve only used it with, but considering the methods my family has used prior to this filter, it seems to be working great. I also use it in conjunction with a Penn-Plax Cascade 1000 to cycle out the dead green :)

Surprising Effect!
So initially I installed this in my son's 10 gallon fish tank. It had WAY too powerful filtration...if you look it has a 10 watt pump which is in the range of 200gph filtration. So I took it out and went back to the hang on the tank filter. With 2 goldfish and 2 minnows in a 10 gallon tank, I eventually had an algae problem. I was replacing HOB filters clogged with algae every couple days and the water was still murky and algae out of control!I really didn't want to resort to chemical algecide on account of a fish kill incident early on in my learning about fish tanks. So I adapted some irrigation hose to make a diffuser for this pump's output and removed the sponge inlet filter (not recommended) just to see if the UV could help.I had it on for about 1/2 hour, and the fish were constantly freaking out. Also, I noticed the water had become more cloudy with lots of micro bubbles (Ozone?). I turned it off to calms the fish and just went back to depending on the HOB filter.Well, that was Friday, and watching the tank over the past couple days wondering what to do it has progressively gotten clearer like magic. Today (Sunday night) the water is crystal clear!!I think that in the 1/2 hour this filter ran, the UV light directly sterilized or added enough Ozone to completely kill the algae. Amazing! So for the videos that show how clear it gets over a few days.....it MIGHT actually do that even if it only runs for a little bit on day 1..... the rest may be overkill....in any case, extremely effective.

Mostly okay though I miss my tiny bubbles.
UPDATE1: I had to do a water change today as it was time and I stopped the filter just like I always do to avoid any issues. I changed out the water and filled the tank back up. Once again the aeration stopped working. I don't understand why it's not working though it is rather frustrating as this was one of the things I wanted. I have to say I'm a little disappointed with this.I got this when my old filter system fell apart. The installation was easy and at first it really was working well and I was happy with it. About a day later my daughters told me that it was "spitting" and I went to look. The aeration wasn't working like it was in the beginning. I couldn't figure out why as I hadn't done anything with it. It was disappointing and I pulled the system out and cleaned it (even though it had only been a day) and put it back together. Luckily it was really quite easy to pull out and clean and get back in. After I re-installed it the aeration still didn't work that well though I was able to get it to work a little. I will say the suction cups on this thing are amazing. They old everything on tight. I do with the unit I got came with a flow director like the larger ones. It does look fine in the tank where I have it and doesn't seem to take away from the rest of the tank. For the money I spent I'm not too disappointed and I'm looking forward to see how it works with the UV light to help clean the tank. It does seem to work pretty well overall.

Great Performance -- Difficult when adding filter floss
This filter works really well on my 20-gallon saltwater tank. The UV light noticeably improves water clarity and helps with cloudiness. It’s quiet, reliable, and does its job. However, once I added filter floss, I had to change it every 48–72 hours. Each time I removed the filter to swap the floss, it stirred up detritus and clouded the tank instantly—leading to nitrate and nitrite spikes. It became frustrating and messy.I use a Seachem HOB filter on my 75-gallon, and it’s much easier to maintain without disrupting the tank. I recently ordered the Seachem 35 to replace this one.If you don’t plan to use filter floss or clean your filter often, this one will work just fine
