I haven't tried this out yet. I am replacing a garment bag with a plastic zipper that went bad. The description on one of the photos says "smooth metal zipper". The zipper handle is metal. The zipper us plastic-like. We will se how the zipper lasts.

I bought a set of these to store my historical costumes-- bustle gown outfits with separate skirts and bodices. They are the perfect length (54") and depth for a complete outfit-- I clip the skirts to the trouser clips on the hanger and button the bodice over them, and everything zips in nicely without getting crushed. For the record my skirts are about 41" long. For full-length gowns I'd go with the 65" bags, though-- you may not think you'll need something that long, but the bag doesn't rest exactly at the top of the hanger, so you'll need an extra inch or two to ensure that your hem doesn't puddle at the bottom. Zipper works well so far, and no weird smells out of the package!
