A High-Quality, Customizable Experience
I recently acquired the 8Bitdo Wireless Arcade Stick for Xbox Series X|S, this arcade stick has proven to be an impressive addition to my gaming setup. Here’s a comprehensive review based on my experience.*****Build Quality and Design*****The 8Bitdo Wireless Arcade Stick is incredibly well-built. The construction feels solid and durable, giving a sense of longevity and reliability. The stick's weight is just right, providing stability during intense gaming sessions, or the brute force of a toddler, without being overly cumbersome. The modern USB-C port for charging is a fantastic inclusion, offering faster charging times and a more secure connection.*****Functionality and Customizability*****One of the standout features of this arcade stick is its terrific quality and customizability. The stick is highly responsive, with precise control inputs that enhance the gaming experience, especially for fighting games and arcade titles. The layout is well-designed, and the buttons and joystick offer satisfying tactile feedback.*****Connectivity*****Connecting the arcade stick to various devices is seamless with the provided USB Dongle. It works flawlessly with Xbox Series X|S, and Windows 10, providing a versatile solution for different platforms. The wireless connectivity is stable, with no noticeable lag, and is a smooth and responsive gaming experience.*****Practicality for Young Gamers*****The primary reason for purchasing this arcade stick was to provide a more simple control option for my 3-year-old to play games like *Bluey*. The Xbox controller was challenging for him to hold and use effectively. The joystick and large, clearly defined buttons on the arcade stick have made playing games fun and accessible for both of us. This setup is much more intuitive for young children, allowing them to enjoy games without the frustration of too large, or overly complex controls.*****Buttons and Usability****The one drawback I encountered with the 8Bitdo Wireless Arcade Stick is that all the buttons are black with small text indicating their functions. This design choice can make it challenging for younger or less frequent gamers to remember button combinations, leading to a less intuitive experience. To address this issue, I recommend planning on buying Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons and swapping them out. The process is quick and straightforward, significantly enhancing the usability of the arcade stick. The colorful Sanwa buttons not only make it easier to identify functions but also add a vibrant touch to the overall look of the stick. It’s now much simpler to instruct them to “press the blue button” or “hit the green button,” significantly improving their gaming experience. (Picture Attached)*****Conclusion*****The 8Bitdo Wireless Arcade Stick for Xbox is a top-tier product, offering excellent build quality, modern USB-C charging, and outstanding customizability. While the default black buttons may pose a challenge for some users, this is easily remedied by swapping them with Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons. This minor adjustment aside, the arcade stick is an excellent investment for both casual and serious gamers, providing a versatile and highly enjoyable gaming experience. For parents looking to introduce their young children to gaming with a more straightforward control scheme, this arcade stick is an ideal choice after some minor modifications.

Best arcade stick for the Xbox Series S/X
I sold my Mayflash F500 to give this a try, and I have zero regrets. It feels like a significant upgrade despite the similarities in price.Pros:1. Design - this is a beautiful looking hardware; if you are struggling with white vs. black, I'd say the black is a solid choice. The matte blacks and piano blacks in the glossy finish make it look super premium.2. Construction - sturdy, heavy and feels like a brick on my desk.3. Wireless (2.4ghz usb dongle) - having this feature at this price range puts all other Xbox arcade stick out of competition. Low latency, and it just works flawlessly out of box.4. Buttons - 8bitdo quality buttons; nothing much to say except they feel closer to sanwa buttons.5. Battery life - the same great battery (1000mah) that came with the switch version; can nearly last me 2-3 weeks of casual use.6. Compatibility - 8bitdo is understating the compatibility of this arcade stick. I've tested this fully working on Android phones/tablets (either plugged via provided usb cable, or wirelessly by attaching a usb c to usb a to phone and plugging usb dongle). Likely will work with Steam deck and linux based machines as well just like the switch version.Cons:1. Bluetooth - doesn't support it. Shame.2. Software - very minimal with ability to alter face buttons; no macro or advanced features like turbo. Hopefully, this improves with future updates. The arcade sticks market for Xbox has always been a niche reserved by mediocre devices charged at ultra high prices. 8bitdo is about to completely change this, and so far I'm loving what this arcade stick has to offer. Though, if you don't plan on using it for Xbox, it's pretty clear that the 8bitdo "switch" version is a better deal with bluetooth and established software support unless you specifically want an all white or black verison.

Good arade stick, but a lot harder to customize than advertised.
The joystick and face buttons are adequate and would probably be fine for more people. However, the joystick ball top was a bit too loose for me, and there is a fairly pronounced mold line through the middle of it...The face buttons felt cheap and spongy, so I ended up replacing the buttons with Sanwa OBSC's for the 30mm buttons, and OBSJ's 24mm buttons.I also replaced the joystick with a Sanwa JLX, a Sanwa ball top in gun metal grey, and a Sanwa octagonal gate. The buttons were an easy swap, but the joystick uses an 8-pin connector (4 direction pins, and ground pin for each direction) whereas most joysticks use a 5-pin connector. There are lots of ways to solve this, most of which involve cannibalizing the original wiring harness, but I opted instead to just put an 8-pin JST PH 2mm pitch female terminal on the 5-pin connector I bought with my new joystick (the same size terminal as the original hardware), and matched the pin-outs and one of the grounds, which worked great. As such, I can return my joystick to its original configuration should I choose to, but ended up having to spend a lot more money on the connectors and crimper. If you want to customize your stick, I'd suggest either opting for the switch model, getting a different brand, or just spending a little more and getting stick that has premium parts in it to begin with.
