Two wire hook up. One to HERM terminal, One to Common Terminal
I had seen hvac experts post and compare hard start unit with softsart units.Hard start unit works only on older single stage compressors not the newer 2-stage scroll compressors. Most experts say a hard start MAY prolong the life of the outdoor condenser/compressor unit on a split system hvac. It was a $10 part so what do I have to lose. I received in one day and disconnected the power breaker, took a photo of my capacitor wires since I could not see the label or the top for Common, Fan, Herm terminal markings. One wire goes to Herm terminal and one goes to Common terminal. Easy quick install, I used zip tie to secure the hard start kit to the capacitor bracket. I will use a self tap screw when I replace capacitor.I did not think to order a new capacitor. Mine is 45-5 rating and is fine and shows no sign of overheating. (bulging top, or bottom or both) However, it is OEM to old R-22 unit so for another $10-$11 I will replace. My last HvAC systems check up, condenser cleaning, etc service guy wanted $180 to replace a capacitor.I got the two pack. I had an old r-22 compressor at a different property that had stopped working it was not running even with a new capacitor. Nothing to lose so I installed the 2nd hard start from this order and bam, compressor started working again as soon as the power switch on. So yes hard start can prolong the lifespan of old compressor, for how long???

I will keep these stock!
SPP6 Hard Start Capacitor was a game changer,, my orig capacitor could not handle the startup. I installed the SPP6 hard start cap with the orig cap and my A/C never stops working. My house was rising in temp,, my A/C would run for a short time then stop. I hit the reset button on the inside of the A/C and again the A/C would run maybe for a 60 secs,, then quit. After I installed the SPP6 Hard Start Capacitor in parallel to the orig capacitor. My A/C fired right up and has been running ever since. the SPP6 is truly easy to install.

work pretty well
I have an RV ac unit which draw a lot of power when it started. THIs thing helps my unit run smoother on battery as well. Nice working

Just What I Needed!
Needed a hard start for a couple ACs just to reduce capacitor stress, and these worked out great. Reasonably priced and super easy to install.

Ideal for older ac condensers.
Easy to install by DIY persons. Gives old compessors a needed boost when starting up.

Easy to install. Don't let the AC guys try to sell you theirs
My AC guys were out doing the sprint warranty inspection for both of my units. They measured the starting amperage, and it was a bit on the upper end of normal. They suggested adding hard start kits to both units. They wanted $450 per unit. $900 for both. NO WAY! I ordered this two pack and installed them myself. It took 15 minutes to install both. They seem to work great. Just remember to pull the plug on the AC disconnects before installing these.

Not a reliable item.
Our AC went out in the middle of a triple digit week because we installed the hard start. Woke up in the middle of the night by the sound of the AC compressor buzzing when it would attempt to kick on. Opened service panel and could immediately smell that the hard start was burnt. After securing power and discharging capacitor we disconnected the hard start put power back on and system worked like normal. This item is not expensive but for it to fail in only a week is worrisome. The idea behind a hard start is great but this is NOT the product to use!
