This Mortising Jig is not easy to use. The problems are enumerated below.1. The handle on top is held on to the jig by a single screw. It will loosen easily and a lock washer had to be added to make the handle some what stable.2. The maximum depth of the mortise is only 3/4 of an inch. This is not sufficient.3. Standard bits are too short to use with this jig, including the two that are supplied with the jig. Extra long (3 inches long) bits must be used and are not easy to find.4. Two screws are used to limit travel left and right. Locknuts had to be used lock down the setting.For these reasons I cannot recommend this unit for woodworking.

I made the mistake of buying the “litely used” product from Amazon. No router bits, no Allen wrench. Side rails are out of square, Allen head pin/bolt is stripped out- I can’t loosen to try to adjust the squareness. Only one set of measurement markings, no other markings. Plastic router “clamp” cracked the first time I assembled and tightened. Striking point of the bolts for the lateral movement looks like King Kong pushed it side to side. Absolutely wrong choice to buy the “like new” item just to get it sooner. Looks like something that came from the $5.00 dollar store, not an $80 item.

The cheap plastic sleeve for the router did not fit my Ryobi nor my Bosch compact routers. Had to lose the cheap plastic sleeve and attach my Ryobi directly. There are no measurement guidelines, every cut has to be eyeballed. Not good for cutting precise mortises. Very unstable. Zero documentation. Save your money.

Product came damaged, it’s unusable at this point. One of the adjustment knobs is bent over due to poor packaging. Also, product came with no instructions so you better know how to use it otherwise maybe google how? Disappointed? Yes. Will try and fix and use? Yes.

I reluctantly bought this, assuming it was going to be plastic and about as durable and sturdy as a McDonald's happy meal toy. The package arrived today, and it was heavy. Turns out, this thing has 5 parts that are plastic, and those things are knobs and the handle and the whatever you call the sleeve where the router mounts. And all of those plastic parts are solid, sturdy material. The rest is solid and cleanly machined aluminum. I haven't used it yet, but I'm impressed with the quality of the product.
