works great
The price for this was great compared to paying a plumber their minimum charge of $225. Just find the model of your toilet and find the right flapper for it. You do the math and figure 10-15 minutes. You can learn real fast how to replace one of theses all by yourself in just a few minutes. Turn of the water, remove the old one, clean the area up a bit install new one, test adjust the float if necessary. Stops the non stop leak or random refill when toilet is not in use.

If you have a Kohler, buy Kohler parts - period.
I know nothing about plumbing. But I didn't want to pay a few hundred dollars to a plumber to do this job. So I watched some youtube videos to find out what my problem was and how to fix it. I took my flapper and float to Ace and got a "Universal" Korkey. Well, long story short, it did not work at all. Leak still there.I determined the exact model number of my toilet by looking under the lid as per a wonderful review on here. I put that in the search engine and came up with a great PDF that gave all the part numbers for all Kohler toilets. This was the exact part I needed. So, I ordered it with confidence. When it came, I took a scratch free Scotch Brite pad and cleaned out the hole where the water enters. Stuff builds up in there. Then I easily replaced the flapper. The chain in nice and long but you'll likely have to use more or less or it. I had to use less and adjusted it. You want about a half inch play in the chain. No more and no less. This all should be done with the water drained and off.Well, the leak is now history and I think I'll probably save ten or fifteen bucks a month off my water bill because using this flapper the tank uses less water and fills faster. The last plumber to work on the toilet used an after market brand, no Kohler. As a result, it used a lot of water and didn't last long. Probably thought he'd get another service call off me.So the bottom line is this: If you own a Kohler, do not use a universal flapper. Get a Kohler flapper and get the one with the float if that's the type yours uses. A new float should be installed at the same time as the flapper. They go bad too. This is a very easy task. If I can do it, a child can do it. You don't need a plumber for this little job. And always use Kohler parts if at all possible.-- Susanna K. Hutcheson

Fit as described
I liked that it fit as the replacement model as described. Price was good. Adjusting the chain and float has its challenges but is not necessarily the item’s s fault. I was able to get everything installed without tools. Performed as desired; Stopped the toilet from constantly running and refilling the tank because it did what it was supposed to do, keep water from leaking out until you push the handle to flush. Strong flush after install and proper adjustments. (Watch a few vids on YouTube and you’re set.) I would buy again.

Great and worthwhile concept, tricky and time consuming to install.
The flapper part of the Kohler GP85160 seems to last several years before it stops conforming to the hole it is supposed to securely plug. When it first needed replacement (we have 4 toilets), it was done by my usual plumber. He replaced the flapper with a non-Kohler model that lacked the float. I noticed that the toilet flushed differently--when flushed, all the water in the tank came out. With the float, you can adjust how much water comes out when you flush. If you flush quickly, a small amount of water is used. If you hold down the flush lever, depending on how long you hold it down, more water will be used, and if you hold it down long enough the entire tankful of water will empty. In the picture you notice there is a length of chain on either side of the pale blue float. Depending on how much water you want to release with a quick flush, you adjust the length of the chain on either side of the pale blue float. If you have only a short section of chain between the flapper and the float, a lot of water will be released with a quick flush. If you have a long section of chain between the flapper and the float, less water will be released with a quick flush. If you need a better flush, just hold down the lever until you see the desired results in the bowl. It is tricky and time-consuming to adjust the chain to the correct length on either side. If the overall length of the chain is too long, the flush lever will be loose. If the overall length of the chain is too short, the flapper will not seal properly. Once you have adjusted the chains to your liking, the next time you need to replace the flapper, you can reuse the pale blue float and its chains, because it's the flapper that deteriorates.
