Product Description Everyone's invited as Sesame Street celebrates its 25th birthday! The whole family will want to sing along with this special hour-long collection of favorite Sesame Street songs, featuring "C is for Cookie," "Bein' Green," "Monster in the Mirror," and many, many more! Ernie sings a medley of Duckie songs, including "Do De Rubber Duck," "Put Down the Duckie," "The Honker-Duckie-Dinger Jamboree," and, of course, "Rubber Duckie." Big Bird leads the whole cast in a rousing finale of "Sing." You're sure to treasure this wonderful collector's edition of Sesame Street for years to come. .com Yes, Virginia, there was a Sesame Street before the Age of Elmo. This 1993 collection highlights the role of music in the long-running series from Children's Television Workshop, and reminds us that such Jim Henson creations as Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, and Ernie and Bert were once part of a true ensemble of Muppet superstars. Nothing against Elmo, of course: kids adore him and he makes enough appearances in this anthology (including the show-stopping "Happy Tappin' with Elmo") to keep today's tykes happy. Also included is Ernie's classic "Rubber Duckie" (really, who doesn't know the words to that?), Oscar's anthemic "I Love Trash," you-know-who's "C Is for Cookie," and Big Bird's Big Finale, a rendition of "Sing" that includes the entire cast. There are 27 tunes in all, and they don't all involve singing puppets: Ladysmith Black Mambazo turns up for one track, and the "Sesame Street Jam Session" includes some actual playing of instruments. --Tom Keogh

Just as described
I have searched high and low for this on DVD for years. My kids and I watched this religiously when they were little. I can’t wait to share this with them as adults now. It was before their time, however we watched it on an old VHS for years before the VCR quit working and after the VHS was eaten to many times.

Magic
This is one that I remember renting all the time from the library... It is full of music and fun.. Most of it was filmed outside with video clips sprinkled in... It is a good way to see who was involved in the show at the time and it never put more time on one character... Elmo is not the central star and gives fair time for what they covered at the time.. It was nice to see how the special came together..

As close to watching the actual show as a video gets!
Both my toddler and I loved this video. For my toddler, it has several advantages: one, it's an hour long and can replace Sesame Street itself if you missed it that day (just get an Elmo's World tape to follow up). Two, it has a full cast that includes the newer characters who weren't around in my day: Elmo, Telly, Prairie Dawn and many others make an appearance. Third, the celebrity cameos are few and serve the storyline well.As a former puppeteer and avid Sesame Street fan, I really enjoyed watching it myself. It has old clips that have almost disappeared: the original "Rubber Ducky" with the floating bubbles, "C is for Cookie," "I'm an Aardvark, and I'm proud," and some of the letter and number clips you might remember as a kid. I also liked that the storyline was filmed outdoors, making the production values somewhat better than other Sesame Street videos. Having a store of all the "important" songs is really useful, too.Enjoy this video with your kids - and tell them about the "olden days" when Snuffy was an imaginary friend of Big Bird's and Ernie grew critters - what were those things called? - in his window box.

Never mind the kids, I LOVE IT!
As a grandmother, I'm getting a second round of Sesame Street (which I always loved when my own kids were small). This particular DVD is adorable. It has all the classic songs I (amazingly) still remember the words to: Rubber Ducky, Sing, I love trash, C is for cookie, Sing, and many more. They are woven together in a loose plot of looking for performers for a show Big Bird wants to put on, but it is basically a collection of songs and lively dance performances which keep the little ones riveted. It is longer than most DVD's which last about a half-hour. This one is a full hour, so you probably won't watch the whole thing in one sitting. It has all the classic characters and a couple that weren't there when I stopped watching, but are equally charming. It's fast-paced, upbeat, funny, colorful, & entertaining. If you are starting a collection of videos, The Sesame Street 25th Birthday Musical Celebration is, without doubt, the one to get first.

25th Birthday Musical Celebration
I have always been a "sucker" with Sesame Street's programs and the characters, especially Elmo. In fact I bought this DVD album twice, the first one was purchased two years back for my Grandson, but forgot about it. Anyway I could always give it away as gift, to make other children happy.Although the music selection is from the popular Sesame Street's series, it could have included some of the more popular children's songs. Anyway I am glad they included the song "Rubber Duckie" which is my favourite when first watch Sesame Street with my Son thirty years ago.It is a good buy for the educational and musical program with some humour for the young ones.

Great DVD for Kids!!!
I gave this one a 5 star review because me 1 1/2 year old son loves it and this is his first real introduction to Seasame Street minus some songs he had on his IPod. It has a lot of the videos I remember from a child, including the Batty Bat song, C is For Cookie, and the Monster in the Mirror. It is missing some of my other favorites, and I was disappointed that they did a arrangement of Rubbie Duckie songs rather than showing the entire videos. Those are some of the best songs....yes, they focus on Rubber Duckies, but they are so good!!! So 5 Star rating by my son, but I hope they make a new one of these and play out all the Rubber Duckie videos as well as some of the other favs like 'But I Like You' and 'New Way to Walk.'
