Best thing since the wheel! Should've got one years ago!!
I feel that few things have come along since the wheel that is so revolutionary! A tool that really changes things from what they've always been, rarely comes along in my many years of DIY. I do all my own decorating and recently moved to a house with a lot of damaged and chipped woodwork. The one job I absolutely hate with a passion is sanding woodwork and I was resigned to how awful would be the many hours I would have to devote to preparation. Plus the rough hands and the soreness and general frustrations of hand sanding.Thing of the past! No longer held up by dread of hand sanding. Bye bye drudgery. It takes no time at all to get a good key for the new coat of paint - even on moulded surfaces. What's more, unsurprisingly, you get a better result than ever by hand. I don't even have to apply pressure with my arthritic hands. You must not put any pressure on the Mouse, but let it alone do the work. What a little beauty! It is also light, not very noisy and a pleasure to use. Then there's the design of the sanding sheets, so simple but so ingenious, giving you extra pointy bits for where the sandpaper gets the most worn out quickly. Finally, the price. Amazing! This little sander has all you could want from its design and value for money and, it will improve your DIY lot so much.

a very versatile sander
Arrived promptly and well packaged. Immediately noted it was smoother and quieter than my old and tired mouse. But it doesn't come with a carry case, just a bag.. The mouse is a very versatile sander and this was particularly good value.

Surprisingly fun for a power tool
My ideal power tool would be easy to use, light and suitable for small hands, and this little mouse sander ticks all those boxes! The sander is cute (yes, I know nobody apart from me cares about that!) and very simple to set up. You just pick a sanding sheet and pop it onto the base. Plug it in and you're ready to go. Operating it is as simple as pressing the on and off button, there's really nothing more to it. There are some handy attachments included, such as different heads to get into awkward areas, and a tube to attach to your vacuum cleaner to prevent dust going everywhere. You also get a small supply of sanding paper in different grades, and some spare tip papers.I found the sander very comfortable to hold due to its shape and light weight, and it was useful on both flat surfaces and curved surfaces. I had no problem sanding doors, garden furniture, skirting boards etc. It was much easier than sanding manually (and it was even quite fun!). You will need an extension lead if you're doing around a whole room rather than just a piece of furniture. My only qualm with this product is that it doesn't seem quite as powerful as I'd like, and I would like to be able to choose between power levels. When using it to sand a poorly-painted and lumpy skirting board with coarse paper I had to spend quite a while going over the same surface and exert quite a lot of pressure to smooth it enough to repaint. If I had wanted to sand through all the six layers of paint back to the wood I would have been there for a long time!Nevertheless I would recommend this as a very handy little tool.

Useful, Manageable, Fit for Purpose
I'm quite delighted with my new Black & Decker mouse.I'm renovating my old flat, which has many period details including chipped and flaking paint dating back to the 1950s. I have come late to DIY and discovered that I have a bit of a talent for it. I sanded down my Victorian style front door largely by hand, but realised that with a full-time job as well I really can't cope with doing the whole house that way.The mouse is light and small enough for my grip - I've suffered from arthritis since childhood, and I dislike it when I'm trying to use tools designed for a larger, stronger person. It's best used for getting the paint or varnish off bits of furniture, or cleaning up chips and bumps in filler, or drips when redecorating. This tool is not designed for taking all your woodwork back to the hard wood - for that, there are heavier, more expensive items on the market.Love the detail foot, which has allowed me to work into corners and period squiggles. Also love the fact that you can turn the foot, which allows you to use up the worn bits of the sandpaper, and the point is removable so that you can purchase and slot in other 'tip tools' for specialist work. The noise level is great, much less than my vacuum, and just about bearable without ear plugs, though I shall use them because I can't help being sensible. Likewise, there's a great extension which could siphon the dust into your vacuum, although for the sort of jobs I tackle it's barely needed. The mouse came with six sanding pads and I haven't had to replace any yet, but I shall take heed of other reviewers' comments and not resort to 'the cheap ones'.Thus far, after three months' use, I'm dead chuffed.Suitable for people looking for an affordable tool to assist in light sanding on furniture, woodwork or plaster. Not intended, or priced, for heavy decorating work.
