Easy and Informative for All Ages
If you ever wondered how flickblades work, this is the kit for you.I first ordered this kit for cosplay not really knowing what to expect, but the knife was really easy to assemble and modify to look like the blade I needed it to. The mechanism itself is really fun to fiddle with after the knife is all put together.Having now purchased and constructed two of these, I feel that new purchasers should be cautioned that the kit does come with four little metal posts (pictured in the box) that, though come in a little plastic bag, can be easily misplaced outside of the bag. Everything does fit together, though some of the holes require a little goading. The blade is dull, so you don't have to worry about cutting yourself during construction or usage. The instructions are wonderfully clear about how to operate the knife so that mechanism breakage does not occur. Without painting/coloring or sanding, your knife may squeak when you open and close it. The wood is highly receptive to coloring implements like colored pencil, marker, and acrylic paint.

Great, if you keep them away from Fido.
My kids love these. Easy and fun to put together and the kids can carry a 'knife' just like daddy's. It is an exact replica of the Spyderco Dragonfly, which I often carry. This kit is extremely easy to assemble -- my kids (6yo and 7yo) put them together with very little assistance. ( I helped them push the pins in. ) It is very useful for teaching safe knife handling skills. It opens and closes perfectly using the famous Spyder hole in the blade.Unfortunately, the dog liked 'em, too. Now I'm ordering two more.<Edit: My kids were able to fix the damage done by the dog and are still using the original 'knives'. Now I have two more for gifts. >

Nice set, easy to assemble
This was quick to assemble, but had all the bits to see how the Dragonfly works. Was interesting to see how the lock mechanism works -- even in wood it's a solid lockup. A minor gripe: the whole thing fits together with pins -- friction fit. I have one pin that slides out a bit and I have to keep pushing it back in.

Great for a Cub Scout Project!
Beautiful little knife - my ten-year-old had it assembled in no-time and I'm quite impressed how well the lock mechanism works.Only four stars since the actual locking hook on the blade is rather delicate and broke off when a person who did not know the mechanism of the knife pushed down too hard on the blade and chipped the hook off.Seems that this feature is copied directly from the metal original, as it is barely .040" tall - a bit more material in this spot would make it a lot sturdier!Nonetheless - great kit and a fun tool to teach my sons, who are both in Cub Scouts, how the lock on these knives work.

Practice makes Better.
My boy loved putting this together! I've taught him how to hold a knife when it's open. With this I don't have to worry about him cutting himself with it. It won't be long before I get him a real knife.

Great for youngsters
A really good alternative for a 5 year old Grandson who is interested in knives but not old enough for the real ones. Assembly is just difficult enough that he feels like he has really accomplished something, but easy enough that he doesn't get frustrated. The kit is well designed and well made. We lightly sanded all the pieces and gave them a coat of paste wax before he assembled it. This is his 3rd kit (Case also makes really nice ones) and he is hungry for more.

Great for younger kids
This was great for my 7 year old to build while his older brother was building a real pocket knife. The presentation was lovely and the knife turned out beautiful and functions great.
