I use the original version and I think the only difference between the original and this one are the colored printing. So if this is formatted the same way as the original, it’s the FORMER (first thing you said). There are 12 monthly spreads together, followed by 52 weekly spreads. At first this bothered me but I quickly realized three things: even when months and weeks are together (1 month followed by 5 weeks, then 1 month, 5 weeks, etc) as with my previous planners, I still had to flip back and forth. If I’m sick or otherwise “off duty”, it’s easier to skip a week or even a month without ending up with unused pages. My old ‘1+5’ format almost always had a lot of skipped weeks or half weeks. I always felt guilt and a loss of momentum. Lastly, this planner has three ribbon bookmarks, making it easy to find my current month and week without clipping page corners or using separate bookmarks, paperclips, or page flags. For two years I’ve been planning to try a DIY dot grid journal but I keep coming back to these. I can format and decorate the pages and relabel fields if they don’t fit my needs.
