Easy Setup, Great Speeds, No More Monthly Charge
For years, I was paying my internet provider $5/month to rent the same exact modem. That added up way more than the cost of just buying this myself. This modem works flawlessly with my gigabit plan—fast connection, easy setup, and reliable performance. If you’re looking to stop overpaying monthly rental fees, this is a great investment.

Received seriously damaged/defective item......RETURN!
I ordered the Amazon renewed backed by a return guarantee if it didn't work right to try and save some money. The product arrived fast and appeared to be easy to install and set up. However the screw the connects the coax cable to the modem was stripped and slanted. I spent forever trying to get my coax to screw into it but no matter what I did the cable wouldn't screw into the modem evenly. I then thought it was my cord that was bad so I went and bought another heavy duty high speed coax cable but the same issue....it wouldn't screw in evenly and would be slanted and or loose. At this point, I figured something was wrong with me.....maybe I was having a stroke or something because I know how to righty-tighty and lefty-lucy a simple coax cable but being 3 hours into the ordeal and still struggling with no results, a stroke seemed plausible. But.....that wasn't the case, I was healthy other then the momentary high blood pressure from my sheer stupidity in not being able to figure out how to screw in 1 coax cable and the insane fact that I spent hours working on it. I had some time sensitive things I HAD to get done on the internet so I just kept trying to figure out a way to plug it in, hoping that I would stumble across something to save the day......but no luck :(The description on Amazon says for a renewed product the item is thoroughly inspected for damage and tested.....but honestly, this was a huge oversight that should have been caught during inspection before making it to the sales floor. If coax cables are loose or not secured correctly it leads to high packet data loss (really poor internet connection and speeds) and dropped signal. There is no way they were able to secure any coax correctly or achieve anywhere near the internet connection it should have had during the technical inspection.....and if I would have just looked at the screw after the first 20 min or so of not being able to connect it I would have realized the problem right away as it was clearly visible. Unfortunately, I did not know how important the screw was or the importance of a secure tight fitting (and even) coax cable. All in all, I wasted an entire day trying to figure it out/troubleshoot, wasted money on new coax cables when mine were perfectly fine, missed my deadline to submit my stuff because I couldn't connect to the internet, will probably have a bald spot from my frustration induced stress and finally waved the white flag and surrendered to being defeated and had Walmart deliver a brand new cable modem (same brand but was not supposed to be as fast as this one.....I didn't care I just needed something that worked). And guess what......I opened the box and had everything securely connected and powered on in less then 5 min and was fully up and running with new passwords and firewalls configured start-finish in less then 10 min!!!I'm so irritated that this "renewed" product ever made it to the floor, such a HUGE AND COSTLY mistake on my part (time, energy, SANITY and money wasted) Thankfully it is eligible to be returned, but it really should NEVER have happened.Moral of the story, inspect the screw and parts.......don't think your having a stroke it's probably just the product, don't get it if you have something very important and time sensitive that's due and make sure it's edible for returns.Whew, sorry for the long rant! Just be cautious, hopefully this was just a 1 time thing as everyone makes mistakes.....even companies ;) and maybe next time I will try a different product from them as renewed as they deserve another chance :)Have a great day everyone!

Works as advertised; Cox users take note
Just upgraded my Surfboard SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 to this Touchstone CM8200 DOCSIS 3.1 for the faster downloads (there was nothing wrong with the SB6190, just slower). The CM8200 works as advertised and you will save money on this refurbed.Note for Cox users: you have to call tech support to register the modem - not possible online. On my first call to tech support, I was told that the CM8200 is NOT compatible with Cox, even though several reviewers here say it works with Cox. The support person said the only Arris 8200 version available on their network is the Surfboard SB8200 and the Touchstone CM8200 would not work. I asked her to try registering it as if it were the SB to see if that worked (the SB and CM are basically the same device). She did that and we waited a few minutes and although the lights indicated all was good, she did not see the modem on the network - it didn't connect. Disheartened, I resigned to return this modem to Amazon. I reconnected the old modem, the SB, and when my internet didn't come back on, I figured it was because the new modem was still registered with Cox and I'd need to call back to have the old modem re-registered. On the second call, a different support person quickly gave me hope when he said the CM should work and he verified the S/N and MAC address (both were entered correctly the first time). After a few minutes, he saw the device active on the network and I verified that my internet was active. The moral of this story is this device works with Cox; don't let a rep tell you it doesn't; allow some extra time to connect.

The modem equivalent of a caffeine shot for your internet
Plug this bad boy in and suddenly your internet stops napping on the job. The Arris CM8200A is DOCSIS 3.1, which is a fancy way of saying “I was built for speed.” If your ISP offers gigabit service, this modem handles it like a pro—no buffering, no tantrums, just smooth streaming and snappy downloads.Setup is plug-and-play—unless your ISP is in a mood (looking at you, cable companies). Once activated, it runs quietly and reliably, no blinking light rave or overheating drama. Plus, it’s a modem-only device, which means no unnecessary Wi-Fi clutter if you’re already rocking a solid router.Whether you’re a gamer, a remote worker, or someone who just wants Netflix to work when everyone’s online—this little box means business.
