1Kg Aji Amarillo Chilli Paste Rico Picante

With a husband from Peru we just had to buy it for his meals. He is very proud of the ingredients like this.

Authentic taste an great size!

After spending over a year in Perú and recently returning to the UK I had cravings to eat some ají de gallina and causa de pollo. This is exactly like the chilli sauce is in Perú. 10/10 would buy again

Disappointed. It's much too hot. My wife is from the central highlands of Peru, and the aji amarillo there is prepared without the seeds and after soaking so that it is only slightly picante, as it is more for the flavour. This aji paste is much too picante (hot). We wonder whether they prepared it with the seeds. Since aji amarillo is the base of many dishes (aji de gallina, papa a la huancaina, cau cau, etc) that are also eaten by children, it isn't supposed to be that hot. My daughter would always ask for papa a la huancaina in restaurants in Peru and it was only ever very slightly picante-hot. Maybe this is how aji amarillo is prepared in some other region of Peru, but this product is not suitable for central highland dishes. It would be good if the product description mentioned that it is very picante. We're not sure what we're going to do with the rest of this kilo of paste, since the children won't eat it, despite being Peru-born and used to Peruvian food, and as my wife said after our meal of aji de gallina: "he comido rico pero sufriendo". We will have to bring dried whole aji from Peru and prepare it ourselves.

Superb item! Arrived really fast, and the taste of this chilli paste is superb. I've been able to use it in pretty much every dish I've cooked since buying it. Rich flavour of chilli without too much heat makes this the perfect addition to a marinade or curry, and it's even versatile enough to be a side condiment (tastes can be adjusted by adding other ingredients if required). I've stored mine in an airtight jar, so no concerns of it going rancid. Would definitely buy again.

I love the taste, it's a real Peruvian flavor!! I'm so delighted being able to cook again my favorite exotic dishes. I looked for this product in many places but I couldn't find it. Amazon has it, that is so amazing!! Thanks 🌹

I did try to make the huancaina cream and the taste was ok.
