Great for ceiling spots!
We had a spot on our ceiling where we had a leak. It was smooth because we had to fix that spot. My husband put this on the spot and it blends perfectly with the rest of the ceiling now. It worked better than I anticipated. It was really easy to use and wiped right off after he was done. The coverage is amazing and I highly recommend it, it’s a great value for your money!

Very handy product
This patch was a major help when I had to repair an acoustic ceiling. It adheres well and is pretty easy to apply. The texture is not a perfect match to my ceiling, but it's close enough and can be worked a bit to make it better. Two tips based on my experience with this product. Your mileage may vary!First, the patch instructions are a bit ambiguous as to whether primer is needed. However, I learned the hard way that this patch causes water stains in the ceiling unless the area is primed. So now I always use the recommended shellac primer before applying the patch.Second, the patch instructions say "painting is not necessary." This was incorrect on my ceiling, maybe because the ceiling had aged enough to be darker than the color of the patch. To achieve a color match, I painted the patch with paint that was custom-matched to the rest of the ceiling. I'd have had to paint anyway, due to the water stains (until i learned to prime first).Bottom line: I had to prime before applying the patch and to paint afterward. This took a fair amount of time and effort, but the result is a repair that's hardly visible and I'm pleased with it.

Works great, may not match
The product was a great value for our money and very easy to use as well as easy to clean. The color starts out looking gray but does dry white. My only "complaint", which is mire just an FYI is that the the texture unfortunately can not necessarily be matched to what my ceiling already had on it. There's nothing wrong with the product itself, just wanted other new DIY folks to know there may be different products out there that since you can definitely see where we had to patch due to the non matched texture.

Fantastic product
I damaged the ceiling while putting things away in the attic. This was not a full Clark Griswold, but it definitely left visible damage. I began by scraping the old popcorn ceiling about a half inch on both sides of the crack. I used a carpenter’s knife to trim off the loose edges along both side of the crack. I then used drywall screws about every two to three inches along the ceiling joists about a foot in both directions along the crack to pull the ceiling back up into place. I then used DAP fast and easy spackling to fill in the crack. After drying I smoothed it with a wet sponge, I then began applying the popcorn repair with a two inch brush dab it in the center and working out. I pretty much followed the directions. I did four coats using a fan to dry it in between coats. The pictures show it drying. I did not use primer, and I don’t believe it will be necessary it has blended in very well.

Should Work Fine for Smaller Patch Jobs
I used this to patch an area approximately one foot by one-and-a-half foot. Following the initial application with a medium-width paintbrush, it took several additional touch-up applications with a narrow brush in an attempt to blend with the existing popcorn coating. From a distance, the repair looks OK. Up close, not great. The popcorn particle size is much smaller than the original, and the particle density you end up with after you achieve the proper thickness is much greater. This would work much better and be less conspicuous for smaller patch jobs. Contrary to the instructions, painting is necesary, as the patch does not dry ceiling white, but instead, has a yellowish-brown white tint.

Perfect instructions
Very easy to apply from instructions on the container. We had two areas that were damaged in the garage from water shooting from a hose, this was an excellent remedy and looks very good. The price was excellent and it was shipped quickly via Prime.

Where's the popcorn?
Wheres the popcorn? Hardly any real texture and its more of a light grayish color. Lots of work and little results for a larger area. Make sure primer is underneath as theres a definite bleed thru of a water stain.Verified buyer and user

Another Great Zinssers Product!
We are updating our kitchen and had removed an old (1990’s) fluorescent light box over the kitchen island. I posted a picture of what it looked like after the removal—three holes and a crack which all needed repairing and refinishing/painting before installing the new ceiling light fixture. We started with actually repairing the holes and crack, and then I moved on to adding the Zinssers texture back over the repairs. This stuff (with some additional texture added) did the trick. We have quite course popcorn ceiling and I sort of instinctively thought that the texture in this Zinssers product might be a little too fine. So I found (also on Amazon) a texture product you normally add to paint made by Rustoleum, and I mixed some of it with a portion of this Zinssers product; the combo ended up being just about perfect to match the existing popcorn ceiling. I did practice a little bit on a small leftover piece of Sheetrock before actually putting the mixture on the ceiling, but basically all I used was a putty knife to apply it and then a paint brush to dab at it and to pull the stuff around. It goes on sort of grayish, but dries to a whiter color. Once I painted the entire ceiling, the repair and Zinssers was hardly distinguishable from the rest of the ceiling. We are very happy with this product—worked even better than we’d hoped for!
