Best ROI For DIY Mechanics. Must Buy
First things first… I’m a weekend warrior type of mechanic. My skill set is following others YouTube videos and just coping them.I have various scanners such as: BlueDriver, iCarsoft, and Foxwell. The BlueDriver is my go to for ease as an Enhanced reader, but sometimes it doesn’t work or like cars such as Land Rover, Jag, and Volvos. Also BlueDriver isn’t bi-directionalSo why I love the Launch scanner? It’s like having every makes $1000+ bi-directional software in one device. Honestly there is nothing I can think of I can’t do with it. Because I have so many various car brands and always changing cars, this is a must for me. Still haven’t used more than 20% of its capabilities and hope to learn more about its features. The scanner has paid for its self many times over and has saved me from buying cars with bad engines. Yes, use this as a pre-purchase inspection. This scanner does come with 2-years of free updates. After I think it’s $200 a year… ouch!

Great bang for the buck!
Purchased to get bi-directional control at a reasonable price. Previously used the Launch CR129X. That tool worked well, just no bi-directional control.Immediately put it to use on a 1999 Olds 88 (evap diag), controlled the purge and vent valves as required. Then a 2008 Nissan Xterra to check trans temps after bypassing the trans cooler in the radiator (prone to failure). Nissan hides the temp pids, or at least makes it difficult to find, but the X-431 found them and displayed both trans fluid temp pids. Nice tool, cool concept and design...

Not the greatest out there…
First couple days: What an awesome tool so far in the first couple days anyway haven’t tried anything important yet!Update: Nothing to really write home about just go with a cheaper tool that can do the same things. Some special functions don’t work like fuel composition reset never did receive any help as promised by support. Seems support is almost non existent unless they want something from you. I’d pass if I could do it all over again. Look elsewhere

Snapon to Launch
I have been a Snapon scan tool user for years and have been getting tired of the high subscription fees. So was in the market for a new scan tool. I was hesitant to buy one of these units even if I knew that they are very powerful because I felt like the menus and general operation of the unit would be too difficult to use. I really bought this unit as a test more affordable entry to the line as a way of acclimating myself to the new software and I impressed so far. I have used the unit on a few are now and there are a few things that will take getting use to but for the most part it is intuitive. I am look forward to purchasing a more powerful unit in the Launch line up soon.

Robust "little" tool
I want to hate this thing, I dislike this form factor. However this has been a useful tool. I have worked on a 2000 VW Beetle, 2001 Audi A6, 2005 Chevy Avalanche, 2012 Chevy Malibu and a 2013 Buick Regal. Doing some hard work like programing a key fob, diagnosing ABS brakes, and figuring out door locks. This unit has worked out with no problems. It won't program the immobilizer on the VW or Audi but this is due to the lack of information on the vehicles, so the jury is still out on that. It would be nice to have some information about the reports you can make and possibly send to customers. I am guessing most of the information is online with launch, I just feel that the unit could have been sent with something. This product will have to grow on me just a little before I love it. I was able to work on two cars most of the day on a single charge, and would say I could have done a third. The new generation of mechanic will appreciate the form factor.

Amazing product for the money
For the price you pay for the product its great I work in a full service shop and was in need of a bi-directional scanner but wasn't willing to drop the money for the tool truck brand quite yet. Then I found this one it can do everything the 1200-4000 dollar ones can and everything a mechanic may need a scanner for, for half or more than the other guys. Directions aren't really there for the adapters and such but im sure with enough time ill be able to figure it out.

Better off buying Autel or x431 3+
I was excited to but this because of the size and said features but once I started relying on this the more it let me down. As a certified technician I’mUsed to the Autel lineup. Even though this is cheaper compared to an Autel with similar features, the Autel is going to be much more accurate and give way more info on the screen vs the Diagun. I like this only because it has a pocket to carry and never forget your by toggle and it can fit in the palm of your hands. The bi-directional and active test feature is basically obsolete or unusable on most vehicles I’ve tried to use it on. It’s very limited to the processing and active control on the modules. It is accurate on diagnosis of the DTC but so is any device over $200. All in all I give this device a 3 out of 10 only because of the size, holster, and screen clarity. As for extended features and informational use its a 2 out of 10 for me. Save up or spend the extra $400 on the bigger version X431 or go with the Autel lineup.
