Electronic Door Magic
Every morning and every night my husband had to tend to the chickens making sure that they were securely behind a closed door. One night at 10:35 pm he was almost a sleep and remembered that he had not closed the coop door. That is when we decided it was time to get the electronic Over EZ Automatic Chicken Coop Door. Now my husband can eat breakfast and tend to his chickens afterwards with no stress. The Over EZ Automatic Chicken Coop Door has been a great addition to our coop.

Would kill a chicken, forgets timer settings
I wanted to love this. The promo video shows it closing on an egg and not breaking it. Maybe if it was hard boiled. Maybe. This (mine) would kill a chicken. I tested it on my hand. Also, if you unplug it, it remembers the time/clock setting, but resets the timer setting to close the door at 10:45 pm. Um. So, if the sun sets at 5:45 and there's a brief power outage during the day, this device - which has one job - will fail to secure your feathered friends, leaving the coop unsecure for 5 hours after sundown. I purchased this for one reason: to reliably secure my chickens in their coop at a set time each day, safely. I cannot trust it to perform that task.

Worth it
Nicely built chicken door. Only gave it four stars because I had an issue with it the door, it would not open so I called the company and they sent out a brand new actuator next day because the plug was bad ever since then has been working great. Easy to set up and use. Is on the pricey side but construction compared to others is above and beyond.

Doesn't last
First off we received the first door we ordered, installed it, and plugged it in only to discover Nothing Happened! Totally dead. So we ordered a replacement. We received the replacement, tested it before installing it, and once we thought all was good, we installed it. Here we are less than 3 weeks later, on vacation, I check the coop camera just to make sure all is well and find the door is wide open in the middle of the night. Next night when it's supposed to be closing I have my sister go out and check on it and find it's dead. There is no light, no response on pressing the mode button, nothing. I had her unplug it and plug it back in just to see if anything happens and nothing. I don't get back from vacation until after the return deadline so not sure how this is going to play out, but I sure hope I didn't spend $400 for 2 to 3 weeks of convenience followed by a nightmare of a night worrying about the chickens. I do not recommend this door and honestly because nothing else really fits this coop I will no longer recommend this brand coop to anyone.

Excellent Quality
The media could not be loaded. This coop door exceeded my expectations. Installation only took a few seconds, thanks to the preset screws. Programming the time for open and close was simple and intuitive. The metal door is heavy and drops into a groove that should make it difficult for animals to pry the door open. I attached a magnet to the metal door and Samsung Smart Things multi-sensors on the top and bottom of the frame so that Stringify can alert me if the door ever fails to fully open or close. The ST sensors also monitor vibration, so I'm alerted if an animal starts prying at the door. I highly recommend this door.

Didn't Fit in Frame
This door did NOT fit into the door frame of our EZCoop chicken coop as stated. We had to saw into the door frame to get this door inserted correctly. We do love that this door was wide enough for the coop as all other automatic chicken doors were too narrow. The plug fits into the back of the door, so if you decide to change to the battery option, you have to unscrew the door and pull the whole thing out to plug in the battery. We decided, since taking our photo, to use a small power inverter inside the coop instead of trying to run electricity by extension cord or installing an outlet. There is a small gap at the bottom of the door, but it shouldn't be a huge issue. We wish there was a sun up/sun down feature instead of just manual and timer modes. Also, a remote would be great. So far the door has been functioning very well.

Good product
It uses a screw drive to open and close the door rather than using gravity, so it provides positive closing. Was very easy to install and pretty easy to program.

Not a good experience so far…
Had it for a couple months. Still can’t get the timer for opening and closing to work correctly. Door works fine in manual, however, it was bought for the automatic function which doesn’t work.
