Promising replacement for Gen2 Prius HID
[edit] After 2 years and 3 months, the LED module one side of one lamp has failed. What I wanted to know before I purchased these, but was unable to find out until installing them:* These lamps come with a plug on a bare pigtail. It's up to you to figure out how to get 12V in.* The dust caps on the back of the HID assembly have a passthrough connector for the 12V power. The low-voltage side of the ballast plugs onto the inside of this connector using 3/16" right-angle female spade connectors.* There's enough clearance to put the dust cap back on. No idea how much. What I've learned so far:* The heat sink gets hot to the touch. Not plastic-melting hot (so far), but definitely unbearable to grip for more than a second.* They're slightly less bright than the HIDs. They're about as bright as the HIDs' warm-up period from 5-25 seconds after turning them on. It's not bad, but definitely not as bright as I expected.* The lamp can be rotated inside the retainer ring. It's held in place by two silicone o-rings, so there's a fair amount of friction, but no positive locking like with a set-screw.* The cutoff focuses much better with the LED modules pointing sideways instead of vertically.* One can focus the cutoff by parking in front of a plain wall and gently rotating the lamp with the headlights on. Don't touch the heatsink with bare hands and burn your fingers. Work one light at a time, with the other one covered or blocked. The pattern on the wall should be a solid patch of light with sharp edges; a sharp horizon that ramps up on the side facing away from oncoming traffic. It should not be a blurry horizon and a bright patch above it.* I removed the HID ballast to save space and not have stuff rattling around inside the lamp assembly. This involves taking out the leveling motor and completely messing up the headlight aim. Plan on re-aiming the headlights after focusing.* Installation took about 2-3 hours.* The plug on the LED lamp has no keying, and will clip in with either polarity. There are very tiny +/- markings on the plug and they were not reversed on the units I received. Remember, negative has no resistance to the chassis ground, so testing is easy with a multimeter. Don't get this backward.* The fans are definitely not silent and make a faint hum in the cabin. It's inaudible on the road, but noticeable when parked and the ignition off.* There are airbag sensors near the area involved in the installation. Disconnecting the (-) battery cable takes only a few seconds and reduces the chance of an accidental deployment.

Could be brighter
Could be brighter but not terrible. I'd buy again if I needed too. Nit many lights fit vlands for lancers

They fit my BMW E39 LCI perfectly
The install was a little weird with the universal ring, but once you get it situated, it's a breeze and sits snug. It plugs directly into the factory wiring, bypassing the Xenon ballast without throwing a light warning in the cluster. They're not blindingly bright, but they do the job just fine. My projectors are also 20+ years old.

Not bright enough
if you want to be able to see only half the stuff on the road buy these, you get what you pay for I replaced them with a much more expensive 20000 lumens model which unfortunately does not come in D2S/H but I modified and H7 bulb to fit my D2S with a dremel and it fits now with insane power output

Awesome customer service
Right box but wrong part , I will say this my buddy bought the same lights and being leds I was very impressed, I have hid with 35 watts that were ok that and I put his bulb in one of my lenses which were from v land lights for my camaro , I was not sure how it would look cause vland lights I have had nothing but problems with the day time running light LEDs and the hids that were in there was not sure if the hids I bought sucked or if it was the housing ( vland housing) though vland ever again I will buy mainly cause how they treat you, but anyways when I tried his led in my housing I was extremely , extremely impressed, it looked like I was looking at the road from a new car, and the bulbs he had were the same one in this review and I was blown away over the brightness , one of the few products I have been 100 percent impressed with .

Not for 3rd gen TL
I’m of the unpopular opinion that HIDs aren’t worth the box they’re shipped in.I always swap to LEDs, unfortunately I didn’t know enough about projector headlights to understand how this would work. These bulbs are plenty bright, in a reflector style lens. Headlight or fog I think it would suffice. However on the 04-08 TL it has a kind of catch inside to direct light, and the common two sided chipset LEDs that they offer, it’s nearly impossible to get around the shadows and dim lighting it emits.4 starts overall, decent kit, no butt connectors but some would want to solder.Just didn’t work for my application.

Work just great
They fit into the D2 holder no trouble. Spliced the provided power cable into the old connector and away they went, nice and bright. They looked well made and robust, I'm happy.
