Decent, sturdy lock
I was wary of buying this because of the reviews claiming the lock was fiddly to use with the key. I went ahead anyway, and I'm glad I did because it's a really decent lock for the price. Lots of people have said that it's too small, but I've had no trouble at all fastening the lock around a rooted post and my back wheel so it's plenty secure, and it's a standard sized bike. The fact that the base of the lock actually detaches makes it easier in my opinion, though this is something others seemed to dislike. The only reason I've gone for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I *did* have an incident with the key not working very recently, which is what I assume others were talking about, but I was able to see exactly what the issue was and know how to prevent it in the future (hopefully!). Basically, the best way I can think to describe it is that the channel of the lock is made up of segments that, when you put the key in, all twist at the same time. However, when you pull the key out after locking, if you slightly twist the key at all it twists those top few channels, but not the lowest ones. As a result, it's then hard to put the key back in, because the channel is no longer straight (I hope this makes sense!) But the fix is literally just to put the key in as far as you can get it, then twist gently until the channels re-align and you can push the key in all the way.I know that sounds complicated, but it's really not, and if you just experiment with the lock when you receive it, you'll see what I mean and how easy it is to resolve. If I end up having this issue again and it's worse, I'll edit my review, but for now I would say don't let the other reviews put you off. It's a good size, sturdy, and not tricky to use once you suss it out. Also, I noted that some reviews criticised the lock because their bike got nicked, but based on the photos they had secured the bike with the provided cable and then closed the cable with the heavy-duty lock. This is NOT how you lock a bike! Never have the wire cable as your primary source of security β secure the back wheel of the bike to a rooted post and, if you want the extra security, you can loop the wire through your front wheel.

Good sturdy lock.
Love the lock and cable. Does the job well.ππ»ππ» I have read from the other purchasers that they have problems with locking. I found this too but this is likely due the slide connection may need tightening up close to bar that unattaches.

strong
bought it for Uni Locks pretty strong however the holder wont fit on my bike but the lock itself feels strong sturdy and the metal rope itself with the lock is good aswell.

Great price
This is Kriptonites standard lock and great for what I need a lock for, if you leave your cycle for long pariods of time I would recommend a Kriptonite stronger lock. But I only leave my cycle to go in and out of shop and always lock it with two d locks and cable which comes with the lock. They say would take 8 to 15 minute for anyone to get through the locks with the right tools, so not made to leave the cycle all day long but great value for what I wanted it for, I have seen people look at my cycle which is a e-bike but never seen anyone trying to tackle the locks. A lot of theives circle areas everyday and get used to what bikes are being left and they focus on the ones being left for long pariods of time, so if just using for general use these locks are great and very good value for money. So yes would recommend for short stay lock up of your cycle but would look higher up the market for long lock ups.

Decent lock let down by a terrible mount
When I bought this item, the main features I was looking for were security and a frame mount. The security and quality of the lock seem good, but the mount is useless. When I tried to mount the lock, I found that the plastic in the bracket was very poor quality. The construction was a bolt with a washer in a recess on one side and a recessed hex nut on the other side. However, this is a heavyweight, so it needs to be reasonably tight.I used a stubby screwdriver, and I'm not a bodybuilder, so I didn't put too much force through the plastic. However, the recessed plastic was too thin and just tore when I tried to tighten it. First on the bolt side and then on the nut side. The bodge I found to make this work was to use a stack of washers to put the force through the thicker plastic bracket. This isn't elegant but should work okay...I'm really disappointed, and I expected more from a company like this. The design of the mount is just very poor. If I didn't tighten it up so much that the plastic tore, then it would be too loose and would slip down the tube.Another thing to keep in mind is that the mount exits out the top, meaning that you need a reasonable clearance to be able to get the lock out. This can be tricky when you have a bottle cage on another frame. This is just something for buyers to keep in mind. The way I have it mounted there is a few mm of clearance with the bottle, and then I have to twist the lock so that it can exit the frame. This is a large frame, so it's probably a no-go for people with smaller frame sizes. The actual lock seems reasonably sturdy and looking online seems like it is reasonably safe for short stops, but I probably wouldn't trust it all day in a city.
