Kid Hated It
This is a nifty craft and looks very cool when finished. Elementary age kids will need some adult assistance...But if you have a picky little brat that only wants videogames you might not be appreciated.

Difficult project and requires assistance
Very cute project. My 8 year old daughter needed my help and even still, it was extremely difficult. The glue was very thick and it was hard to squeeze out of the bottle. I don’t know if it was just old or if it was supposed to be thick and goopy. Needs an extra pair of gloves which was not provided. Very messy. I think we needed more glue than what as provided.Allow it to dry overnight and make sure all the strings have adequate glue. I used a paper bowl and rolled the yarn into the glue instead of using a bag which was not provided and I had to spread the thick glue over it several times during the process of unrolling. The string lights go in at the very end of the project (which was not noted in the steps). The yarn and glue sticks to the balloon so you have to pop the balloon and take your time poking through the holes to unstick the balloon and then you can pull it out.Overall, this project was difficult and required an adult to assist a younger child. It came out really nice except a lot of the glue dried up between the strings and will need to be tediously peeled off.

Only for kids with adult assistance
My 8 year old absolutely loved this project! And the results in my picture speaks for itself. After reading some of the other reviews, results definitely vary upon crafting experience. The directions were thorough enough, though there were a few things that could have been explained better. It was a very straightforward and simple project that only took about 20 minutes aside from drying time. We put down a plastic garbage bag on the table so we could set down the balloon while wrapping or lay out the two feet or so of the gooey string segment to be wrapped. Childeren cannot easily understand that the gaps need to be filled in, so that the lantern will be balanced with proper support, and thats where an adults assistance comes in handy. Once dry, it was very easy to separate the balloon from the string before pulling it out. I slipped some scissors part way inside and cut the balloon up into a few pieces, so as to not damage the delicate string or distort the shape when pulling the balloon out. My only complaint is that I had to use about 4oz more of white glue that I had on hand, as what was provided was not enough to easily coat both the ball and spool of string. If our glow in the dark string came on a cardboard card as stated and shown instead of a large plastic spool, we would not have needed the extra glue. Half of the extra glue went to waste because the of the bulkyness of the plastic spool, rather than the cardboard card it was supposed to be wrapped around. Great project and great price for everything you get! And the finished product is adorable!

Great Christmas gift for little girl!
I bought this for my niece for Christmas and she loved it, but she loves to put things together and do crafts! It’s a beautiful little lamp and great quality for the money!

Takes a bit of work to accomplish
Nice idea for kids. Now the drawbacks -gloves provided are too baggy and don’t allow you to work normally with the string. No bag provided so I had to find a little tray to use for the glue pile.Once I found a tray to use , the process of unraveling the yarn, reloading the glue and wrapping it around with my child. I ended up throwing off the gloves and pouring the glue in my hands while my child pulled the string through it.We haven’t popped the balloon as the instructions indicated. But looks cute for a Valentine’s Day gift for mom.

Nice gift
It was fun and fairly easy to do for a 9 year old, with some help. She really likes how it turned out and now it's a pretty nightlight. Made for a nice gift!
