I bought these for my house and again for a gift. My rating is based on the item itself and not the packaging. The wood is a pretty Brazilian cherry style appearance. The mat is an egg shell white and cut at a bevel. The “kick stand” in the back is well structured so the picture stands up well with a slight angle. If you plan to give as a gift, please note that the cardboard box it comes in looks like it had been through World War II in both of my separate purchases. When I gave it as a gift, I had to take it out of the box it came in and place into something more presentable.

I am giving this 4 stars to 2 mains reasons:(1) Value for money. These frames are priced slightly higher than they ought to be. Comparable frames can be found at Michaels for about 40% cheaper than here, especially if you're buying with a coupon. I had to buy Amazon because Michaels had ran out of this style.(2) Quality. This is the big one. I bought about a dozen of these for a photo project, and about 20%-25% of them have big ugly imperfections in the wood, like splitting or markings that appear almost like scratches. It's hard to tell if this is the wood quality or manufacturing, but either way, they should be checked over before being packaged. Also, the mattes are off-center about a 3rd of the time as well, which is a bummer. Don't get me wrong, these things are great when they nail it! The wood is beautiful and smooth and the packaging is very adequate in terms of protection, but I would've expected more consistency given the price point.BOTTOM LINE: Buy these, but plan on buying some extras so you can return the defective ones (currently they have free returns anyway). And also know that you aren't getting the best value for money.

Frame is fine. Wood was fine, "glass" was fine.Matting was problematic: the top layer of the matting was crooked relative to the bottom layer, and the two were held together with double-sided foam tape. I had to very carefully disassemble the matting. As I was doing that, some of the paper tore off of the matting and I had to repair it carefully with a coating of watered-down white glue. After waiting for it to dry, I was able to re-align the matting / tape and it looked fine. If it had torn differently, I would have been SOL.I'd say it's not a huge issue, but finding custom-cut matting to replace something like this would cost $5-10, and it's difficult to cut thick card stock well at home. I guess the worst case scenario is that this frame would have costed as much as most other options online, but...those might be less work.

Inside matte is not 5 x 7. It is closer to 4 1/2 x 6 1/2. I have a 5 x 7 photo and it was cutting off a little of the photo. My husband made an adjustment and was able to slide it in eliminating the inside matte, but allowing room for the entire photo. It is not very sturdy. Had a difficult time removing the backing to put the photo in. Backing tends to slide out when putting the photo into the frame. Color of the frame is pretty true to form and coordinated with the other photos that I was putting with it.

Had quite a few nicks and imperfections on it, but it was cheap so I’ll just rough it up with some sandpaper like it’s supposed to look that way. If your looking for a quality or smooth wood try a different frame...

Purchased two frames for family for Christmas, both were slightly damaged. They were still able to be used however one had a small wood chip and the other had a large blemish. The blemish appeared luckily more “part of the wood” but I expect more. Better quality control is needed.

I agree with the other reviews...the frame is nice and the finish is beautiful, but the mats are crooked. They're off by at least 1/8 inch. While that may not sound like much, it is noticeable to the eye. Thankfully, I did not need the mats, just the frame. But since the double-layer mats are securely adhered together and really can't be fixed, they will be of no use to me. That's why only 3 stars. If I could've gotten this same frame without the mats at a lower price, that would be worthy of 4 or 5 stars.

The frame was smaller than I was expecting and I had to rip the paper insert out on the inside in order to fit my memorial book. It looks nice and for the price is looks a lot better in person. Pictures don't do it justice. The size is my only complaint.
