Playtown: A Lift-the-Flap Book

Bought for the flaps, love for the illustrations & stories
My toddler loves flap books so we picked these out based on the promise of a ginormous amount of flaps. The book did not disappoint. An adult may need to prep the book by opening up the flaps when it first arrives as they are snug. Once used a few times the book is ready to go for your child. I love the detail of the illustrations and stories. It reminds me of the busy world of Richard Scary but in a more practical, modern setting. We can look under the flaps and point out objects to work on vocabulary. Each flap has a nice story so it will last a few years as it will be great for a child learning to read too. Overall it’s a good investment and value. This will be added to the list of items we gift to others as it is so wonderful.

Great for Building Vocabulary
I bought this book for my two year old when we had a very long road trip ahead of us. We have a book by this same artist about trucks that my son loves, so I figured he would like this one too. There are TONS of flaps on this book. There are different areas of Playtown that you visit on each page. Some of the descriptions are a bit long on the flaps and my son won't let me read them all before moving onto the next, but since we have had this book for a few months we usually point at things and discuss without letting the book "lead" these days anyway. I am not exaggerating- we can read this book for at least 20 minutes on the nights my son picks this book to read. There are tons of different people and animals on each page and under each flap and some of the flaps tie into each other (a boy in an elevator lost his dog- who you can find sneaking sausages on the opposite page). It has also done a lot to help my son build his vocabulary and make connections between different things he is seeing or that I am reading about. I really can't find anything bad about this book- WE LOVE IT!

Keeps my toddler entertained
We bought this book to entertain our toddler in the car. It’s so bright and fun, sometimes we even look at the pictures and scenes if we’re sitting in back with her. Great book that has a lot to offer

This book is nicely put together
I purchased the Playtown Lift Flap Book as one of many things to keep a 2 year old busy on two back to back 4 hour flights. This book is nicely put together, there are 5 different scenes and each has about 10 lift flaps. The illustrations are wonderful and each page has plenty of things for my son to point out and explore. Quality of this book is wonderful as well, the pages and flaps are thick enough to handle my toddler's abuse. We have several of the Roger Priddy First Words lift flap books which my son still loves. We plan on purchasing the Construction, Emergency, and Farm version of this book next. Would definitely recommend!

Two bathroom pictures
This book has two flaps that reveal people using the restroom. This may not be an issue for you, but I felt like it is something I wish I would have known before I purchased it.That being said, this book has fun illustrations, lots of flaps, and it is very entertaining for my one year old daughter. She loves lift the flap books and this one is like a gold mine for her because there are so many flaps on each page. Just make sure you are ok with the two potty flaps before you buy it.

Perfect for a plane ride, very entertaining
My two-year-old son absolutely adores this book! We bought it to have a new book on the airplane and boy, was this a lifesaver. There are so many flaps in each flap has so much text behind it that it would probably take a good 15 minutes to save her the book and each of its flaps. This is exactly what I was looking for for the plane ride, and I feel like I discover new things on each page Every time I read the book. I let my son figure out where all the flaps are, and he still hasn’t found all of them! It is silly how excited I am about how awesome this book is.

Cute illustrations, great to keep a little guy/girl busy
Bought to keep a 3.5 year old occupied on a plane trip. It's a great book, with lots and lots of flaps, and lots of cute and interesting little details. It has a decent amount of wording if you want to read, but I mostly summarized it and focused on finding things within the pictures. If you're going to use this on a trip, just be aware that it's pretty big and it's got a fair amount of weight to it. I kept it in my backpack on the plane, but there's no way he would've lugged this around on his own without whining.
