VERY STURDY, criminals will be too intimidated to try and get in.
There are two ways to get through a lock - pick it, or destroy it. This does a great job at making it very inconvenient do either. It's due to the durability, shape, and strategic design. REMEMBER: Inconvenience is one of the best deterrent!DESTROY: This is heavy metal, 100% solid steel with a hardened pin. No aluminum or pot metal. This is not going to be beaten off - you'll bust the coupler before you bust the lock. It's not going to be cut off. It'll take a grinder, you'll chew up the edge of the coupler beyond usage, make a ton of noise and sparks, and draw attention.PICK THE LOCK: I cannot tell you how difficult it is to pick the lock - I have little lockpicking experience outside of YouTube. But I CAN tell you that it would be very difficult to view or get the right angle of the lock cylinder. Picture this lock in place... The trailer coupler sits ~12in from the ground. The lock is an additional 3 inches lower. The cylinder is now 9 inches from the ground facing directly down. In order to get a good reach of the lock, the person would have to lay flat on the ground and struggle to find a good viewing angle. The key is also a less common kind of key (a disk detainer lock), and less folks know how to pick them. The thing hasn't shown any signs of rusting, the pin travels smooth, easy on/off, and the thick black enamel coating is tough.IN ALL: We're all looking for the same thing - a tool to prevent theft of a large asset. In order to overcome this lock, a criminal is going to either make a lot of sparks with a noisy grinder, or lie on the ground and struggle to reach the lock cylinder. Neither of these are convenient or stealthy. It's most likely enough to deter the average advantageous thief looking to make a quick swipe (especially if you add a second lock somewhere else.)Truth be told... I'm mostly concerned as to how I'll get it off if (when) I lose the keys... Perhaps that means something?

Heavy, sturdy, easy to use!
I have had a couple of $45-$55 coupler locks and have not been happy with quality. I was looking to buy the $300 Proven Lock. It always rates high for quality but always takes a thumb's down for high price. I did some investigating, read a lot of reviews and various top-ten lists for best locks and value. Finally decided to order and try this $120 lock and save $180. I am very impressed with it. Immediately after opening, I took it out to the trailer and made sure it fit. It is a heavy duty, sturdy lock. It is easy to use and looks and feels prohibitive.

Very Rugged, worth the money for piece of mind
After looking around at the cheaper options I started watching tests online and was shocked by how easily defeated almost all of the lower end locks are. If you're looking for a lock, do some research before spending the $30 on the most popular cheap options- you might as well just put a paper bag over your coupler in that case. This thing is heavy, it would take a very motivated thief with a couple of very large tools and lots of noise to get into this sucker, which is enough to deter most of them hopefully. The key and lock cylinder operates smoothly and there is a floating disc built into the end of the cylinder for added drill protection which was nice to see. The overall fit is snug, and doesn't leave much space for a pry tool. It would be nice if this had a way to secure the chains as well so you'll need a separate lock for those too.

Measure the outside of your bulge before you buy
This hitch lock seems incredibly well built and solid, with a very robust locking mechanism and keys which look like the lock they go to would be a nightmare to pick.I am however returning this as (see attached photo) this 2" RV hitch lock does not fit my 2" RV Hitch ('96 17' Fleetwood Wilderness), and will not slide forward enough to engage the pillar. My biggest gripe is simply that it does not fit my 2" RV hitch, even though in the compatibility pictures of 2" hitch types (which mine appeared on), it's a little too wide at the top bulge. When in doubt, measure your hitch dimensions first! If your hitch's top bulge measures more than 2-1/4" where it meets the bottom at the outer flange/rim, this lock WILL NOT FIT your hitch.

Great trailer lock
This will take a lot more than a small sledgehammer to remove. Inserting the key is a bit awkward but easy enough. Good value.

Oh! Canada
I've been getting more great stuff made in Canada in recent history and this is no exception. This device seems to be about as good as it gets for coupler locks. Steel construction and a unique secure locking mechanism located on the bottom so, hopefully, less water retention. I'm sure that no lock is foolproof, but it appears that someone would have to work overtime to get through this thing rendering the coupler useless in the process. Spend the extra money.

Solid
This lock is solid. Quick and easy to install after unhitching and the keys are unlike any I've seen. I think it would be very difficult to break or pick. Satisfied with this extra security and much prefer it to the yellow Reese lock it is replacing.

One of the best trailer lock at this price range
This lock work very well. I have been using it for 2 years now and they have never fail me. The build quality is good for a casting piece and the core use a nice disk retainer system with anti-drill feature. They work any penny I spend on them.
