dog ate my original key and thought id have to replace the whole thing thru the dealer, but this was a cheap and very easy solution

It was shipped but is missing a vital Battery connector that allows it to function, one of the battery connectors does not ship with it if you are smart you can bypass this with an aluminum foil bridge but it is very disappointing that they do not send the second VITAL battery connector, I guess this is what you get for 14 dollars I also had to shave some rubber to make it functional because it would stick out too far if I did not. I wouldn't recommend if you aren't handy enough to create a bridge to connect the battery and cut the extruded rubber to make it work. Glad I could make it work but very very disappointed they would leave out a vital part like the second metal battery connector. Disappointing as heck. Seriously.

Much cheaper than OEM. It's been working well for a few months. I did't have the key cut, just programmed the chip.

I was only able to use the rubber button pad. They were really faded on the original remote from the car that I bought used. I had every intention of using the whole remote, thinking I could just transfer the chip. Ultimately I just transferred the rubber buttons to the old remote. Fits exactly the same.

If you take into consideration this is about 1/3 the cost of the part from Volvo, then this is a great solution. It would be good if the vendor included instructions on how to get the case apart as it arrives snapped together so you have to open it to insert the electronics from your old key fob. I used my old fob to identify the best places to pry the case open... The two things that were a bit of a surprise to me were: the metal blank is a very low grade piece of aluminum compared to the Volvo one. But it didn't matter because I was moving the old one to the new case and threw out the blank that came with the new case. Second is that the new case does not have a Volvo logo on the back like the original did. There is a recessed area for the logo but no logo. So I carefully pried the old one off the original case and then used superglue to attach it to the new case. If you have the small motherboard inside an old key FOB, the plastic “button preset” piece, and the rubber buttons themselves, this is an excellent product. It is simply a new case. Included are two metal pieces that make contact from the board to your battery. Those two pieces were missing on my old fob so I bought this one for them. I ended up using this case instead because it feels pretty good. All in all, don’t expect a new chip or anything. This is exactly what is advertised, a replacement diaphragm.One complaint is that the diaphragm was open upon delivery in its small envelope. It was sealed so it wasn’t tampered with, I just guess it got bumped open? I would like to see it secured just in shipping next time I purchase one.
