Took some time, but an noob like me built it.
I have a 2008 Ford Ranger, and wanted a topper for it. I began the search and I just kept coming up with Hard Shell toppers. No what I really wanted. So I asked a couple retailers and they told me there were soft toppers, like Jeeps, that can be rolled/folded up. Went on here, looked at reviews, and viola. The one I wanted. The Good.It is easy to put together, if you can read instructions. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! Lol. There is some tricky steps, due to the typical ill written instructions. When the hell will instruction manual makes finally put a DVD or some crap in there to watch them build it, instead of poorly xeroxed copies?Looks awesome. Had it up for over a year, and the sun barely put a dent in the vinyl. Tiny bit of fading, but was in a desert environment. The MehOrdered it, opened it, missing damn parts. Had to give it up 1/3 of the way in to get those parts from Bestop. The good is, they sent them priority mail, arrived within 2 days, and the did this all for free. So, yay them!It is not water tight. It resists a LOT of water, but water will get in. Usually by the front flap, around the edging of the windows, and the back window. Which leads to...Those damn windows. They are a pain in the ass to get in, get out. Ones you get them in, you will never, ever want to take them out. But they will on their own, while driving. Not like POOF flies out. But they will slowly slide off their track, unzip, so you have to check on them. Back window is worse. When you lift the flap, it comes off its track, falls off all the damn time. To remedy this, I bought double stick all season velcro. I put it on the sides and tops of the bac window flap, and the tops and sides of the side window flaps. This little bit kept the wind off of them, which allowed the windows to stay in place. If you plan on keeping stuff in it, remember the vinyl makes it much hotter than a regular shell. On a sunny day, the black vinyl will attract the sun quite well. It got very...very hot in there quick. The BAD.I think most of the "bad" complaints were up above. Nothing that I was like what a piece of crap. I always put in the minor complaints, slight headaches, etc. cause it is best to know more about it, then nothing at all. This is tough and has served me well. Thanks!

Poor Quality Material- DO NOT BUY if it ever gets colder than 70
Bought this topper 6 months ago. Hard, but not impossible install, be sure to it put on when it is very hot out so the canvas can stretch. However, after driving thousands of miles, when I was on the Interstate and had driven about 2 hours the part that connects to the truck with velcro came undone and started flapping; most likely because it was about 40 degrees out and the canvas shrunk. This caused the viny window (the only one that can't be removed) to crack and break.I submitted a warranty request for because they state it has a 1-year warranty. This is their response: "I am sorry to hear that you are facing issues due to the colder temperatures you are experiencing. This is a common occurrence known as a cold crack, which takes place when the temperature drops suddenly and the vinyl freezes. To avoid further damage, we recommend ensuring the window is warm and flexible enough before moving or driving it. Please note that our warranty only covers manufacturing defects, and cold crack is an act of nature that would not be covered. "And this is from their website: Bestop DOES NOT warrant products under the following conditions: Damage to vinyl windows due to misuse, or cracking due to varying weather conditions. (Ex. Cold cracks due to fluctuations in temperatures under 70 degrees, folding windows causing crack lines, foggy/unclear windows). So, if you live in an area where it gets colder than 70 degrees DO NOT BUY this topper if you expect it to last. This policy is such a terrible excuse for poor quality materials.

Read before purchasing and installing!!! Overall great product, but hope to save you some hassle on installation.
I don't typically write reviews, but I figured I could probably save some people some serious headache and frustration on this one. I give this product 4 stars instead of 5 only because the instructions where lacking information and the company tech department was very helpful.I installed this on a 2017 tacoma access cab long bed. My bed may be a little different because the truck originally came with the Tri-fold tonneau cover, which I had to add some plates to the where the tonneau cover was mounted since the bed caps had a notch in them and where compressing too much when clamping this thing down. Also not sure if the top rail in front of the cab is the same as it would be without the cover, but...First off, you want to make sure this is mounted flush with the front of your bed near the cab. I would recommend lightly clamping it down until you get it all buttoned together, then adjust where you permanently mount it once you get your tailgate alight right with the rear window bottom seal. Tailgate should close with ease.Secondly, you want to start with the rear window, which was fairly easy and the instructions tell you the same. They don't really specify how the rear bottom cross bar goes in, but I have it so that the seal is pointing downward and you have to rotate it into place to clip into the side mounts. The side windows where the huge headache to get in initially. I had broken one of the zippers first attempt, but got Amazon to send me an entire new top. Second attempt, I used silicon spray to lubricate the top channel. I used a can with a straw sprayer and only got it in to the top channel of the window. I imagine this could get messy if not carefull, and also think that dish soap would even work. You need slide the top channel for the window all the way through from the back. The channel on the actual cover(not window) is segmented, so once you get through the first segment, I had better luck bringing the window past the next segment by a 1/2" or so, and clipping it in, then sliding the rest of the way until the next segment and so on.After the window was in place, I aligned it to zip up in the front near the cab. After it was zipped, I went to the back and pulled it as far back as I possibly could to get it as close to the rear zipper as possible. once I got it close, I un-secured the rear corner of that side and zipped to be able to zip up the rear zipper.Lastly, there are 2 elastic hoops they tell you to install on the rear top cross-member. Didn't think much about it when installing them, but you want to install them on the top left and right corners. This allows you to roll up the rear window and loop the elastic round to hold in place. This is necessary it is hot out and I am taking my dog somewhere in the bed.All and all, now that I figured on the kinks, I am very happy with this topper. I think it would be easier to un-bolt in for removal, rather than pull the window out to make it convertible. I did however notice that the side windows came out very easily once I had the original top on for about a week. I think it stretches a bit after being installed, just haven't tried to pull out the windows and put back in since replacement.
