The Only Option
Due to tall garage doors, we had no choice on one bay but to install one of these openers. I will not get into the measurements & requirements you need to research BEFORE buying this opener as others have already done that. I DID use their reviews to make sure it would work for us. The wall install is basically the easiest part. Mounting the sensors on the track wasn't too difficult either. The automatic lock is a nice feature but I've never lost sleep believing someone is going to randomly patrol my neighborhood pushing THEIR opener to see who else's has the same frequency so they can rob us. But it will be piece of mind when we're on vacations. The cable sensor is a fail safe that is totally unnecessary. In almost 40 years of being a home owner, I think I've had ONE cable break. It took us a while to realize that the sensor MUST have some pressure on it and that it activates to shut off the opener WHEN, the cable breaks and there's no tension on it. All good now but if you don't have tension on it, you can never set it up. We have NO intention of synching it to a phone, WTH? We can't figure out how to make it synch to a 2nd button on my wife's car but since it's for sale, we'll worry about it with the new car. The cool factor is the remote ceiling light. I didn't realize it's a motion sensitive light and couldn't figure out WHY it comes on with the OTHER opener. But with a wife coming home from work in the early A.M. it's nice to have not to mention, it comes on when I'm merely walking around in the garage. The price is NOTHING to brag about especially compared to ceiling mounted ones but now that it's up and running, we're very happy with it.

Great GDO but DON'T use the metal wire clips!
I really like this Garage Door Opener (GDO) because it is much quieter than any I have ever owned and it reduces the clutter on the ceiling. I installed it on my own and had to remove my old belt drive Chamberlain GDO, so it took quite a while over a couple of days. (I worked slow - the temperature in my garage was over 100F! Plus, I added plastic cable channels to hide some wiring.)I followed the example of another reviewer where I installed the new GDO but only disengaged the old one so I could verify everything before making the final commitment. As such, I had the control wires (one from the wall switch and two from the safety sensors) very loosely pinned to walls/ceilings. After verifying my installation and removing the old GDO, I then went about tidying up all the wiring. To my horror, the lights went out on the safety sensors, rendering the opener inoperable! This occurs when there is a short in one or more wires. After some cursing and removing most of the wire clips, I found one that had obviously damaged the wire. A quick splice using wire nuts and I was back in business. The wire clips that come with unit are cheap, cheap, cheap but worse, are made from metal. It is very easy to damage the wires that they are holding. Do yourself a favor and go to your local hardware store and buy some plastic wire clips that are designed for bell wire.I'm not sure why some reviewers say it's not WiFi compatible. Yes, you must plug the Internet Gateway into your router and the unit communicates over its own protocols but you still can control the GDO from a browser or a smart phone. I don't consider that to be an impediment.Final note, the security locking feature is nice but does make a solid "clang" when it engages. It is quiet when it dis-engages - just wish it was a little quieter when it locks.

Install for a beginner is possible just read the instructions.
Installed on a 12' wide by 9' tall garage door that was insulated. The opener is very quiet. If you are directly underneath the opener you will hear a small hum when it is opening and closing. The eyes are very easy to aim at each other using the pinch style clamps that were included with the kit. I will definitely be installing another one on my main garage door once the current one (an older genie screw drive) starts showing signs that it is going out. If you can, try to wait for this thing to go on sale for less than $350 (it happens from time to time). The most time intensive task for me was cleanly routing wiring so it looked like I didn't do it. Note depending on where you want the push button installed the wire included in the kit may not be long enough. The lock works great and does not look cheesy. It helped having some step drill bits to drill the holes through the guide rail to mount the lock. I haven't tried out the release handle and hopefully I never need to. This opener is installed in a back garage that is not operated everyday but instead is used a few times a week. Also this opener does work with generic chamberlain remotes available on ebay. The remote pairing is very straight forward and is done using the wired button opener. It also allows you to wipe the memory if you have a remote that no longer needs to be linked but you will have to re-pair all active remotes.Overall, the opener works well and is relatively quiet. It feels securely locked when the deadbolt slams into place and the range on the remotes it pretty far (like 125ft).
