Easy to Read and Grasp
Recommended for anyone who has an interest in migration, especially within the East Asian sphere. Very easy to understand as someone who has no prior knowledge or experience with the subject. Outlined well and objective in its presentation. Overall a good book to read in order to gain some insight into the problems facing the Filipino populace.

How state elites, seeking to ensure their own social reproduction, promote the exportation of emigrant labor into global economy
A fascinating book showing how some elites operating through state apparatuses (in the Philippines), to ensure their own social reproduction, have become tied to promoting emigrants as exported labor into the global economy. For a brief overview of the book, I published a review in the journal Science & Society (Vol. 75, No. 3. P. 442-444). "At a time when many scholars of migration are turning away from political economy, Rodriguez helps us to better understand migration in relation to the transnational processes of our global epoch."
