great for the price
Worked great out of the box. I would get an extra for a grandparent or older person as It seemed easy to use. Sounded better than expected for the pricepoint. I had a Klipsch bluetooth speaker in my office that went to another room and this is the replacement. Obviously, this is no comparison on sound quality but it did so well I am going to keep it in the office. You dont even notice the CD tray as it is hidden behind the logo.Dislikes: buttons and nobs a bit cheap plastic chrome looking feeling but work well, remote feels like I have to aim it well for it to work so far, I dont see how to tune the radio so far without the remote....but i probably need to read more. It would be nice if it came with an antenae .....Likes: price, looks good on shelf, nice to have a CD player as an option if you want to pull out a cd from your archives, Blue Tooth seems to connect fast once set up and set up was pretty easy. Like the USB port in the front in case I want to stick a thumbdrive of music in….cd of mp3s works!

Compact, simple, good sound
This is a compact, beautiful CD player that blends easily into my living room. In less than 10 minutes I had it out of the box, tuned into my favorite FM station, programmed with the correct time, and playing CDs. The sound is quite decent, but a lot depends on the quality of your CDS. I have a few commercial CDs of albums recorded in the 1960s, and they aren’t so great. But anything digitally remastered or made from the 1990s on sounds good. The preset equalizer settings are helpful and I found that changing them for some CDS can improve the sound quality to something almost spectacular. I am not disappointed at all, and grateful that Toshiba is still a brand you can trust. Have not tried pairing with Bluetooth yet or using the USB. The remote has tiny little buttons and you have to be within about 8 feet of the machine for it to work, and the remote is the weakest part of this system. If you want to easily enjoy your CDs while just hanging out, it is great value for money. We are thinking about buying another one for a different room.

5 Stars if Sound Quality is the Decider
I wanted to give this all-in-one player 5 stars, but there a just a few things that make it not intuitively easy to use. Normally I’m one to read the users manual before anything, but I felt like a music player is something I have a lot of experience with, so I jumped right into using it and then ran into these obstacles. First, you have to turn it on before anything will work. Seems like a minor issue, but it kept throwing me. For example, if you hit the tray open button for CDs, it won’t open until you first hit the power button and then the tray open button. Once it’s on, it’s on, but I must have some memory from past players just activating with any function, so I’ll have to get used to that. > The buttons on the unit itself are small and shiny, so they’re hard to read. I had to bend down and get close to it to see which buttons were which. > The buttons on the remote are also confusing. There are many functions controlled by the remote, so there are many labels on it, but some are over the buttons and some are on the buttons and some are beside the buttons (with no color coding). It’s just not easily clear how each of them works. For example, “SLEEP” is written over a button and “TIMER” is on the button, “AUTO” is over a button and the stop symbol is on it…and what is “FOLD+” and “FOLD-“? You’ll probably have to open the manual to figure out the remote. > I couldn’t get my iPhone to play using the USB cable. I didn’t get far enough to figure out why, though (maybe it’s not supposed to), but I just opted for Bluetooth and that worked. > This last thing might be nit picky, but the clock display is weird (see my photo). The time shows as AM/PM 00:00, and not 00:00 AM/PM. I did an internet search and I couldn’t find any country that writes their time with AM/PM before the time, so I don’t know why they made it so on this unit, but I can’t get used to it. There is a 24 hour clock option, but I wouldn’t get used to that either. > Regardless of my complaints, I love this player. The sound quality is excellent and has no problems filling my apartment. I also love the vintage look and the size is just what I wanted, big enough to be a focal piece on a tabletop, but not be a huge sound system. It is a little more expensive than what I initially wanted to spend, but after reading through reviews, I took a chance and I’m happy with my decision because for me, it’s definitely worth it.

The long name says it all…
The look is retro but the technology is very current. I’m vintage myself and it’ll take awhile for me to get used to programming it. The remote is crucial—I did manage to set the clock and play a vintage CD. Patted myself on the back too soon. I started writing this review (it’s midnight) when, suddenly, it began raining. Louder than any rain I’ve ever heard. Then I thought it was a broken water pipe and imagined water pouring all over the house. Ran around the the house trying to figure out what pipe had burst. Woke up hubby. Panic set in. Then, it hit—the Toshiba TY-CWU700 Vintage Style Retro Look Micro Component Wireless Bluetooth Audio Streaming & CD Player Wood Speaker System + Remote, USB Port for MP3 Playback, FM Stereo Digital Tuner, AUX Input (New) FM radio was spewing static at an ungodly volume! Antenna not yet attached. System was turned off. Somehow, when setting it up, I must have programmed the radio to come on at midnight! Anyway, I’m happy to have this lovely box that looks like it does a lot less than its name implies, and I’m sure that I’ll figure it all out. The sound is great and you can program the clock for either Army (24h) time or 12h time.
