Freud PB-107B Precision Shear 7-Piece 1/4" to 1" Serrated Edge Forstner Bit

The media could not be loaded. These cut amazingly clean holes. Shavings come out like hampster bedding which you constantly need to clear by pulling the bit up to dump them. Be careful with the needle-sharp center spur tips if you're using them in a drill press. Don't let them get anywhere near metal because they can bend or break off.They come in heat-pressed plastic packaging that you can’t really store them in after you open it. It looks suspiciously like the packaging for the Fisch Fostner 7-bit set that is also made in Austria but twice the price.Unless you have a bit holder with 1/4” & 3/8” holes, you'll need to make a wood box to store them in. The 1/4" & 3/8” bits are perfect for drilling holes to hold the shanks of all the bits. Next, I drilled holes for dowels into the center of the 1x1 on each end, traced the outline of the ends on the outside of the box sides, and drilled the center of the outlines to fit the dowel. Last, I pushed the dowel through the sides of the box, gluing them into the 1x1, and trimmed the dowels with a flush-cutting saw.https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0037MD21W/Just ordered a second set for my home bench.

I have used these with my drill press and hand drill. Both grip well to these bits. These bits boar out he wood like butter. I don't have any complaints. Drilled around 120 holes with these for deck railing bars.

I was making a new set of jaws for the top of a friends Workmate bench and needed to drill both the dog and mounting holes. I bought this set as I had one forstner bit already and was very impressed with it's performance. These bits are phenomenal, you get the speed and feed right and they'll make beautiful holes all day long. They had no wobble in the chuck and with a sacrificial block underneath tearout was virtually nonexistent. The price is very reasonable and it had every size I needed to duplicate the old particleboard tops in plywood. These drill bits are a keeper!

These were decently priced. Liked the serrated cutters. Seem sharp ad well made. Went with these due to the price and brand name.

Replaced cheap Forstner bits with these and wow what a difference. The cheap bits worked only with heavy pressure and sometimes not at all. These cut quick and clean.

This is not my first set of Forstner bits. I didn't want another cheap, disappointing set of Forstner bits but also didn't want to spend $200+. This set had met my expectations for a reasonably prices starter set of quality bits. They are sharp, cut smoothly and leave very clean flat bottomed holes. I've used them in a drill press and a little in a hand drill with great results every time. The vacuum formed packaging protected the bits from damage in transit but is not a long term storage solution so I'll have to make something for that.

I do most of my work in oak. The bits cut nice and clean without any excessive effort. They need a bit of help with chip clearance but they are not advertised as a bit designed toward that. Glad I got them; a pleasure to use.

Rating 3-stars because the product I received was previously used and not NEW. Will be returning and re-ordering. Hopefully I'll receive a new unused product next time.
