Pom pup LOVES it!
We have a pomeranian pup who is 5 lbs, and he loves the whole elk antler. I haven't given him the split one yet, so I don't know how he will like that one, but I have a feeling he will love it just as much. He likes to flip the whole one from small end to larger end, over and over while he chews sometimes. He is teething big time right now, and for the last 4 months has been using a nylabone (which I hate because it's nylon, and have been looking for a good antler to replace it with, found it!) with a nubbed end and a round end with orange "teeth" or spikes in the middle. He has other bones too, but has always loved the nylabone the most. So, when I bought these elk antlers I didn't know if he'd take to them or not, but wow! He prefers it over ALL of his other toys! He took to it right away, no hesitation at all. First day he chewed on it 2hrs straight! I had to take it away from him for a little bit to give him a break, lol. It is very sturdy too. He's been using it for 3 weeks now, and it looks just like it did when he started using it. He really puts his weight into it sometimes and gets to grinding his teeth on it. No splintering or chipping or anything either. Seems very solid.I am very pleased with the quality of these elk antlers. We've seen some other brands in the stores, and at the mall, and they are not even close to the quality these are! These are heavier, and thicker. The others were very skinny and light. Even the thicker ones, seemed hollow they were so light. The quality just wasn't there. Maybe it's the age of the antlers the companies select??? I don't know, but I do know I'll be buying from this company again. If you have a dog who is teething or loves to chew, consider giving these a try. You'd be hard pressed to find better quality or price anywhere. Very happy customer, and satisfied pup. He takes it from room to room with him so proudly. :)***Update 2/24/15***Pup still LOVES these antlers! They have lasted a lot longer than I expected, as he is quite a teether! He does indeed love the split one every bit as much, if not maybe more than the whole one. He has the split one gnawed down quite a bit on the marrow part, but maybe 1/2 of it is still there. He alternates between the split one and the whole one. I will definitely buy these again if they are ever back in stock. Sad to still see them not available. I will probably purchase the order of split ones to keep on hand, but would love to see this combo pack available again as well.I will say, the whole one is still whole. He is 8 months now, and getting much stronger so is making some deeper marks in it, but it is very sturdy, and no splintering either. The whole one is the only toy I really feel safe to keep with him in his crate, as he is quite the chewer, and has destroyed many toys that were supposed to be tough. He is almost done teething, but still has a few teeth coming in. I'm interested to see if he still chews on them as much after he is done with teething.***UPDATE*** I just ordered another set of these because he just loves them both, and I've been watching to see if they are back in stock. I couldn't decide on just getting the whole or split, so I am sticking with the mixed order. He still has a long way to go before I give him the new ones, but I wanted to make sure I had them on hand when it's time to replace the other ones. The whole one from the first order, he has whittled down to about 3" now, but the split one is still about the same size even though he chews on both of them daily. I do think he prefers the whole one a bit more now. I definitely recommend these for pups or dogs who love to chew! They are safe, and last a LONG LONG time. Well worth the money. Other toys don't last near as long. I have a bag full of "dead" dog toys he has torn apart or injured in some way that is not repairable. I figure one day I will find a way to reuse them for him, but these antlers are the ONLY toy that lasts for him. They also do not splinter at all, and feel safe with him having one in his crate. I always put the whole on in with him to chew on. Even though it's in there with him all night, he still brings it out to play with first thing in the morning. He has a bin FULL of all kinds of toys, but still goes for the antlers when it is chewing time. Truth is, I think since he's had the antlers, his destruction of other toys has gone down now that I think about it. :) I hope this seller keeps selling them on here, because the quality of the kind he sells are far better than the others. This batch that just arrived this morning is a little bigger than the first batch, and heavy. These are much heavier than the ones I've seen in the stores. They have some weight to them, and are very sturdy. My pup gives his approval, lol.

Best elk horn - best chew toy - great value and product
We tried all different kinds of chews for our dog, a 40lb Lab / Jack Russell mix who LOVES to chew. He's destroyed Kong toys (both red and black), and it's positively scary to see what he can do to a large heavy beef bone. We had to stop letting him have the beef bones, as he'd manage to crack the ends pretty quickly and break off jagged chunks that would be dangerous if he swallowed one. After an experience with him swallowing a chunk or two of rawhide and talking to our vet, we've steered clear of rawhide. I did some research, and it appears that Elk Antler is the answer -- and after searching online, and particularly at Amazon, it appears that this Jim Hodges Dog Training Elk Antler is the cream of the crop. We got the large one and it's REALLY large. I was worried at first that it might be too big for our dog, and it did take him a couple of days to get used to it -- this was his first elk antler. Anyway - it arrived nicely packaged, and was immaculate, smooth and clean. Somewhere around 10" long and this one has a smaller section angling off from one end. After the first few days with it, the elk antler has become his favorite chew toy. He'll hunker down with it, holding it with his paws and chewing away happily for a half hour at a time. We'll take it away when we're not around -- I still want to be aware of chunks that might break off, but I've noticed than when small chunks come off, there are no sharp edges like a beef bone. Over the past few weeks, he's ground down the larger open end of the antler, and loves the "marrow" area inside. At the rate he's going with this, I'd guess it will still be usable for another couple of months, after which we'll replace it with another of the same. I've read that some elk horns get smelly after a dog works on them a lot - I haven't noticed any unpleasant or strong odor at all with this. Great product, and we'll be sticking with Jim Hodges Dog Training.Update: 6/26/15 - a couple of months later. Still Ace's favorite chew - he's become a pro with the antler now - he sandwiches it between both front paws and holds it mostly upright while he lays down, and works on it with gusto. He destroyed about 1/3 of it so far, working his way down the side and exposing a load of what appears to be a marrow-like inside - this must be where some of the better flavor and scent resides. As before, even though he's cracking off bits of the outside as he works his way down the antler, there are no sharp edges. This truly seems like the perfect chew toy for him. I'm about to order his next one. After all this time, he enjoys the antler enough to act likes it's a treat -- if we hold it out, he'll go into his routine, demonstrating some of the basic moves he's mastered when he wants a treat, sitting, laying down, standing on hind legs, trying to softly say, "I love you" (hysterical when he does this), etc.BTW: since we got this, I've still noticed other "elk antler" chews in the market -- none seem to have this kind of mass and size, none seem as clean and well package -- and the couple I've seen unpackaged seem smelly -- not sure if it's my imagination, but this Jim Hodges Dog Training elk antler just seems to be better quality, however they do it.Very happy with the service and product - couldn't be more pleased. I expect to be a customer of Jim Hodges Dog Training as long as we have dogs.Update 2: 12/22/15 - We just purchased and received our 3rd Elk Antler Chew - Large - from Jim Hodges Dog Training a few weeks ago; despite our plans to save it for Ace's Christmas present, I wound up letting him have it a couple of weeks ago, as his older two Elk Antlers were really worn down. Ace was SO excited to get the new one, loves it - and is incredibly protective of his prize possession. I can't recommend these enough. Fantastic chew toy - keeps Ace busy for a long time, and when it finally does start to succumb to powerful dog jaws, it doesn't splinter or wind up with sharp edges like other hard chews can. We've tried many - this is the best chew that we've found. Also worth remembering: this arrived clean, no odor, no sharp edges or corners, and well packed. Also - all 3 we've had so far are excellent, large and thick and solid. Excellent item.

So much smaller than prior two purchases
I bought the small 2-pack of split antlers for the third time. I do think this is a nice product still. But the the antlers were close to half the size of the prior packages I ordered. Disappointed with that.
