Wonderful book!! I love novelty fabric and panels - I have been collecting them for many years. So, I was very happy to find this book! It is so informative and inspirational! At first, I thought "how hard can it be?" and that it wouldn't be too helpful. But, I was wrong. The author gives so many valuable tips (what makes a panel good to use, thread painting, and embellishing). She even gives instruction on how to frame your quilt. I highly recommend this book. This was a truly inspirational book, with many practical techniques, including 6 projects for a beginner to follow step by step to build confidence in thread painting.

Book is a great book for ideas on going further with "art" sewing. It lets folks teeter on almost becoming artists with fabric and thread ... it helped me personally to expand my idea of what I can create and will create. It' s a worthy eye opening book for sewers who want to go beyond and out of the box thinking. A prelude to doing fabric portraits and real difficult stuff. A permission slip to play more and try things out. Free motion sewing with the handy use of fabric printed panels which are helpful to get hand eye co-ordination and muscle memory at the machine with a road map to "follow". Can't wait to get into actually doing it. It will happen sooner vs. later. Why? Because it's playful and I am inspired to try. There is no right or wrong in it.

I needed this book for a class I will be taking this week. Looks very interesting.PS it was very helpful. The author was also a good teacher.

Like the different fabric techniques explained and used.From overlay to embellishment, to 3D work demonstrated and explained well.

The book will make MUCH more sense if you can manage to take one of her classes. The class I took was dogged by problems with the machine that was provided, but you will get the general idea. I have taken thread painting classes before, but this was a little different. I wouldn’t hesitate to do a panel of my own choice based on her techniques. I highly suggest testing your machine needles and threads to see that you get the results you envision, but I think most experienced people who sew would know that.

I avoided buying this for a while thinking it wouldn't meet my needs. In a weak moment, I ended up getting it but regret it. I do more advanced art quilts and thread painting than what is depicted here but thought I might pick up a few gems from this. Not. I did make a panel recently but did better with free instructions I found online than by consulting this book. Get this one at the library if you are interested.

Great book but definitely beyond my beginner or even intermediate level.

Fab book so looking forward to using it & using ideas for my next 'master' piece - creating my own picture on fabric.
