Genuine Dell KJ410 PR09S Media Base Dock Docking Station Base for Latitude

This dock works very well with my Latitude D430 laptop. I am extremely satisfied that I have expanded ports, and a built in DVD-Rom now.However, I wanted a dock that was like the D410 has, with the normal size modular bay. Why not buy one? Apparently Dell doesn't make one.This dock doesn't come with the standard Modular Bay (the one that you would find in the external D/Bay for this series of Latitude laptops) but rather comes with a 9.5mm E-IDE ATAPI drive bay.There are several products out there that will assist me with placing an SSD or SATA drive in this dock that are 9.5mm IDE (The SATA to IDE 9.5mm ones all will), so be aware when purchasing this dock that if you have a SATA adapter for a D410 dock, D600 series, or D800 series, it won't work with that adapter, and you will need to purchase another one.UPDATE: This dock acts as a USB connection to whatever IDE device you plug into it. Sadly, Windows reinitializes all USB connections on boot, and will Blue Screen before it finishes booting. You will be unable to use it to install a different primary hard drive.

I needed this because the D420 lacks a serial port. The CD drive is also useful. The price was right.

It works. Need it for the CD drive because the laptop I have did not have one. No problems at all.
