Full Featured for two stage HVAC systems
This unit is designed for a two stage heater and two stage air conditioner, or a two stage heat pump. It can handle gas or electric heaters but it does not support humidifiers. There are many other options in the configuration menu but it takes the manual and some time to figure out some of them. The manual can also be found easily online. If this is replacing another thermostat then one important step is to either label each wire with the name on the terminal or write the color of the wire with each terminal name. (Hopefully all wires have different colors). Do not let the wires fall back into the wall! This thermostat should have the same terminal names so it should be simple to connect. If you have a C (common) wire connection you can choose to keep the display on all the time. I also like that it has a programmable filter change time based on hours of use and not days. This is important to get the best performance out of your filters.Programming a schedule is straight forward and it has separate programs for heating and cooling. It can handle 5+2 (weekdays, weekend) or 5+1+1 (weekdays, sat, sun) schedules.

A Simple, Easy to Use, Easy to Install Thermostat
I previously purchased this thermostat for one part of our church building. It worked well, so I bought a second. They are easy to program and simple to install. The large display works well for older eyes. My only criticism involves future performance of the screen. The device from my first purchase seems to have lost a bit of clarity on the display. Time will tell. Other than that...I am extremely pleased.

I love this thermostat
Sounds funny to love a thermostat, but it is what it is. Let me count the ways:1. The instruction manual is well-written. So many manuals written by so many other companies are sheer torture to read through.2. The thermostat is both simple to operate and full featured. That's easier said than done, thus the reason it's rarely done. 3. The "full features" are found in the "Installer Menu" of setup (hold "Menu" button for 8+ seconds to get to it) in which you can adjust a wide variety of settings, including the "cycle rate" which affects how cool or hot outside of your desired temp it is allowed to deviate before turning on again (a common complaint from a lot of people, but it's a trade-off--more frequent cycling is hard on your A/C and uses more electricity). There are 20 different options in the Installer Menu.4. For programming the On-Off times and days, I didn't even have to read the manual, thanks to how intuitive it is. The very first time I tried it, I figured it out. That's a well designed thermostat.5. $55 for such a thermostat is a bargain.6. It works great without a "C" wire (common). The C wire allows it to be powered from the transformer rather than batteries, which also allows the display to stay illuminated all the time (otherwise you press a button on top to illuminate it, and it stays lit as long as you're making adjustments). I'm adding a C wire, but can see it would be fine long term without it.7. The overall style is just plain good. It's tough to describe, but it seems most all manufacturers have convinced themselves they need some kind of racy, eye-spinning aesthetic to sell their wares (and then downplay or ignore the actual logic of using it). This thermostat has none of that. It's attractive, calm, and doesn't drive you crazy.8. Wi-Fi connection would add complication, cost, and glitches, all of which I will gladly live without.I just became a big fan of White-Rogers by Copeland (the branding on the thermostat, but it otherwise appears to be the exact same thermostat as the Emerson described and pictured in the product listing, including the exact same product number).

Excellent thermostat
My wireless Sensi Smart thermostat finally bit the dust. It lasted for years and was great, but the time has come to replace it. This thermostat is basiclally the same, but does not use the internet, a feature that which I seldom used. I can not endorse this product enough - forget the over priced ones and buy this one. Great price, great product and shipped very, very quickly.

Easy to install. Same footprint as my old thermostat. Works with a 2-stage furnace.
Easy to install. Nice display. Programming directions could be better. I was able to program though. Same footprint as my old thermostat, a big plus!

Set it and forget it.
I've had this thing installed for maybe over a year or 2 now and I think it works pretty well. The interface isn't exactly intuitive so the learning curve on this thing is pretty high. But once you learn it and set it, you pretty much don't have to mess with it too much. For me I've set a range of high/low temperatures so if it gets too cold, the heater kicks on and if it gets too hot the AC kicks on. And then I forget about it. It's really all that I want. It's one of the few thermostats out there that will do this without requiring you to hook it up to the Internet. There are plenty of other features in there but I honestly can't really recall any of them anymore because I took the effort to set up the temperatures once or twice a couple years ago and I haven't really had to mess with it too much since then.

Bad Programming for Cross Over
The cross over functions are useless! The program limits Temperature changes from the panel and when it does cross over the Temperature you set at the panel changes.

Great thermostat - auto temperature maintenance is key and hard to find
This was exactly what I needed- a thermostat that worked with standard (4) wiring, with auto temp control (meaning, switches from cool to hot on its own if set to auto and schedule programmed), and easy to program. An added bonus I hadn't expected was a large wall mounting bevel which nicely covered the existing hole much better than the previous thermostat, providing a sharp looking wall mounted thermostat.I had it programmed per instructions in under 15 minutes, setting the hot range and cool range for up to 4 time blocks a day, and it has run flawlessly ever since. Most other thermostats do not automatically switch from heater to AC, you'll find in your research most you set to cool and then set the cool low to tell AC to keep it to, or heat to tell heater what high to keep heater to. This allows you to set a range and it auto turns on hot or cold elements to maintain your house in the range.
