Working great now! Had product problem installing and getting one arm to work. It works great now!
One of the actuator arms would not run. We called the customer service number and could not talk with a technician. We could only email our problem to them and then at 1 or 2 am in the morning did we get a reply. We were told to do several tests on arm and let them know. We did so and was informed that a limit switch was being sent to us. We received it and when we opened the actuator arm we discovered a wire that was not plugged in. We plugged it in and it worked. The other actuator arm worked fine. This has been a very frustrating experience and we just hope that we get many years of service from this dual gate opener. Right now we would not recommend this product because it has taken us weeks to get it running. We are up and running now and everything is working great! Customer service sent all replacement parts to us immediately and stayed in touch with us to makes sure we were up and running. They have even offered gifts for our inconvenience.

The dual swing gate kit I purchased was relatively easy to install and worked great.
I purchased the Topens medium dual swing gate in March. The installation instructions were easy to follow. I had it up and running in about two hours. A few little tweaks were made to make the gates open and close as I hoped they would. A little over a month after installation, one of the arms wouldn't open or close. I contacted Shelley at Topens tech support and she ran me through a few diagnostics to see what the problem was. In the end, she believed it was the actual arm that was malfunctioning. I was amazed that a new arm showed up two days later. I installed it, and yes, the arm was the problem. The gates are now working well. The price point and more importantly the tech support is a reason I would recommend Topens. Thanks Shelley.

Great product but got a question
This gate opener is very great, bought two around July 2021, everything worked fine, until recently one of the remote doesn’t work anymore, tried changing the battery and it didn’t worked. Is there anything else I can do to get the remote to work again?

It Works...so far
The good:This product is working...sort of and for now. It opens and closes my double gate and generally does what it says. Its the cheapest gate opener available, but still pretty expensive. Also, the customer service is pretty responsive and friendly (you'll need it). Metal brackets seem pretty good, and the remotes are pretty nice. The bad:This is my first gate opener so its hard to know if they are all this bad or just this one, but It feels cheap. Instructions aren't clear (but I figured it out). Power supply is underpowered and appears to have issues from time to time. One of the motors release mechanism came pre-broken (it won't unlock). The connections to the gate opener on each side are plastic and they look like they might break (we'll see how long they last). The NEMA control box curiously only has 3 ports on the bottom, so you have to drill a hole if you want to add an electric lock. The biggest issue for me right now is the power supply. It just barely supplies enough power and for time to time, it seems to stop outputting voltage until I unplug it and reset it. Also, it came with a broken wire somewhere (I had to remove the extension and wire the power supply directly into the control box). When the gate closes, if it starts and stops and builds a little momentum, that will overload the motor and the whole thing will stop...again I think this is the crappy power supply. Also, the 2nd motor for the far gate only has about a 5' cable coming off it. Not sure how they expect you to run that cable over to the control box. You'll have to buy 5-conductor cable to run to the other side. Thats a pain.Despite these problems, you'll invest a good amount of time installing everything so you will keep working with it and you want it to work. It does work now, and the advice I got from customer support was to set the delay of the two gates opening to try not to overload the power supply. I'm gonna probably switch it to batteries and I bet that takes care of some of the weirdness. Its hard to know how many stars to give it because you know its not gonna be the highest quality because its the cheapest gate opener you can buy, but on the other hand, its not super cheap either.Update 12/2019:After having this opener for a while, I’ve switched to two 12v batteries and all the problems I have described earlier has gone away and it works pretty well. I don’t use it much but it’s worked every time and it’s still holding up.

Sometimes cheap is great !
The product itself is excellent, and the package included all the neccesary hardware, electrical parts and instructions for DIY.But the best was yet to come, and it was Customer/Technical support.Right after installing the system myself, the actuators were not working properly. My guess was a faulty limit switch, which I repaced and the problem kept on showing.Zach, the representative taking care of my case, worked out with me through a succession of emails, being incredibly patient and helpful, until we reached the solution, which was a little adjustment of one of the swiches, basically due to a particular characteristic of my gates.Compared to the Liftmaster system I had before, this one is quieter and more easily customizable.

Easy Install
The media could not be loaded. I am so stoked about these gate openers. It took me a few days to install because my gate was a custom design, so I had to weld up a few brackets. I went Solar but went BIG. We get a lot of cloud up here ( prince George BC ) So I installed a couple of 50 watt panels and connected them to two deep cycle marine batteries. Should get me through a cloudy day or two :-) .The instructions were decent and wiring everything up was a breeze. Mine was a bit more complicated as I used 2, 12 volt solar panels and two 12 volt charge controllers. It seems to be charging the batteries really well and still allows me to series them for the 24 volts needed to run the gates!. I would certainly recommend them!

Excellent product and support
The presentation, materials and instructions are well done! Was expecting a subpar product compared to the competitor for double price but this pleasantly surprised me!- Very easy to follow the instructions- Circuit board appears to be well engineered- All parts do not feel cheap- Easy to wireIt also works. Installed everything onto a metal pole/chain-link gate and tested it. The hardest and longest part of the setup is drilling into thick metal. If it doesn't last I'll update this review.UPDATE:It works with the electric lock. However it no longer powers on after a few test runs. We'll see how the seller helps out and update the review accordingly. 3 stars for now.UPDATE2:The board has been replaced with great customer service and the gate opener works perfectly now!UPDATE 3 *IMPORTANT*:After a few months the board died. It died due to a specific case when coupled with an electric lock and binding occurs. In fact this was the problem with the first board. It will die when the electric lock gets stuck and you keep trying to open the gate in that state a few times. For this revision of board, you must keep in mind this fault and help the gate unlock when it's stuck which doesn't happen often.I got a replacement board the next day!!! This is wonderful and understanding customer service!

Not a quick installation
Works well and no issues, however take your time on the installation! There's some serious math involved in getting the bracket placement correct...there's a chart in the instructions, but ultimately you'll need to just test out the movement before putting any of the brackets onto your gate. Wiring is reasonably straightforward, but there are junction points on the wiring that require junction boxes that are not included (I guess you could just tape up the wires, but a box was the right answer. Hardware was included to attach onto wooden or maybe steel posts, but if you have masonry posts like we did you'll need to provide your own hardware. Finally, I was disappointed to see all the mounting brackets and bolts are just zinc coated, unpainted pieces. I ended up spraying all the parts with black paint prior to install and am very glad I did, both from a rusting parts perspective and aesthetically it is much nicer.

Check before installation(updated)
Using the 502 set. I just spent the last week installing steel gates(180lbs@10ft per leaf). Today I was installing the controller and electrical. The one actuator is dead out of the box. The other actuator worked twice and then the limits stopped working forcing the gate past its travel limit and tore one of the welded hinges from the gate. Luckily no one was hurt or injured. The gate was advertised to have obstruction safety sensors. However if the actuator can push itself past its limit and keep pushing with enough force to rip a couple of welds then I would assume its not going to stop for a car, or person. Afterwards while troubleshooting the non functioning actuator I discovered fluctuating current on the one side of the controller board. Now I have to:1) Wait till the seller contacts me back and hope they'll replace the defective actuators, and control board.2) Repair the one gate where the hinges ripped out.3) Re-book the remaining installation and site visit.Kind of a hassle. 1 star.Update:Took about a day to recieve contact from the company. The 1800 number just directs you to contact them via email. Being skeptical of email contact I also contacted Amazon but they directed me to the sellers email as well. I'd recommend contacting customer service via email as it's definitely the fast way to communicate with them. After verifying my issues the seller is sending out an upgraded replacement system. While there is no garuntee that the replacement will be perfect there is some reassurance that the seller will go above and beyond to resolve issues within a timely manner.New system should be arriving by end of week. That's a 3-5 day turn around for warranty service. For that I can't complain.I'll have to wait to test the new parts but for now I'm satisfied.

Arrived ok, instructions a bit vague, very well worth it to take time to understand.
Got the unit on time (thank you!) and immediately dove into the manual. Was very easy to set up and wire together. Mine was the PW520 dual actuator kit, AC/DC powered with power converter. The brackets are easy to bolt to the gates and posts using the instructions however the secondary bolt to hold the angle of the post mount could be better designed. Nevertheless, with a drill and some extra hardware an easy fix.I do have two issues. My gate opens fine but does not auto-close right now (even after checking the DIP switches and measuring voltage/polarity to ensure everything is in order. In order to close the gate, I have to click the button again. On the close operation, one gate closes all the way, then the other follows and closes around 75% before it stops and reverses. When this happens, the closed gate also reverses. I hope that TOPENS can shed some light on why this may be happening and help me. There is an actuator limit adjustment however it was not clear to be how to properly adjust this. I tried increasing the stall potentiometer however it made no difference.UPDATE: This was caused by me not RTFL. I immediately received helpful advice from Topens and it works perfect now. I am VERY pleased with the product and the company that stands behind it.The second issue is that the sometimes the gate seems to try to push rather than pull to open. This causes the gate to bind.UPDATE: This again was me not reading the manual carefully.Sophie, one of Topens Customer Service Reps, replied to me right away and helped me out. It turned out that the limit switches were not adjusted properly and the DIP switch was not fully in the on position. For anyone who buys one, if you are finding the gate seems to initially move in the wrong direction, this is the problem I had. I re-installed the actuator so that the pull piston was fully retracted in the gate open position. I then (trial and error), micro-adjusted the limit switch (only one should be adjusted, not the one near the motor) until the gates closed to the perfect position. Next I am going to add the Homelink adapter as well as a wireless keypad. So far so good!UPDATE: I have added the wireless keypad. Very easy to install and configure.THANK YOU TOPENS! YOU GET 10/10 from me.
