Q: does this product cover over mildew stains?

Mildew was not our problem, but I would think the Kilz would work on mildew based on our experience with covering water stain & nasty odor. I put two coats on. The Kilz fumes are noticeable, but do dissipate after several days & are definitely less objectionable that the odor it is blocking.

Q: Washing with krud kutter first! grease fire smoke? smell and staining? is this the best water-based primer for this?

Make sure area is completely dry and free of dirt etc. before painting. This paint stops odors from animal urine and other stronger odors - smoke, Will cover stain marks on wood surfaces with a 2 coat application. I don't recommend applying directly on a grease type surface unless cleaned first. - good luck

Q: How long does Kilz Restoration need to dry on a floor before it can be walked to paint a topcoat?

Hello, thank you for your question. We do not recommend using Kilz Restoration Primer on floors. We only recommend using the primer on subfloors and installing carpet or hardwood floors over the primer (after one hour or more). Please reach out to us directly if you have additional questions.
