Great coffee maker.
I love this coffee maker. Things I love: the brew basket, basket holder and brew head all come out for cleaning. The coffee is very hot. It’s easy to set up and use. When I was reading the reviews, I hesitated because of complaints about how hard it is to clean. This is one of the easiest coffee makers to clean. The brew basket takes the same amount of effort as any reusable brew basket, even with the grinder blades in the basket. My opinion, it’s a great machine for the money.

Flawless and delicious!!!
We have owned two of these and have enjoyed having delicious coffee from freshly-ground, excellent beans (Lavazza Top Choice, sometimes espresso version but usually filtro), programmed the night before. Heavenly coffee to wake up to. Both of our Black & Decker Mill & Brew coffee makers have performed flawlessly. To the reviewer who can't get her filter out: use the swing-up handle on it, and it comes right out. We had the 1st over six years, and I bought a second simply bc I didn't know how to properly clean the fine-meshed filter and it accumulated some hard debris. I scraped it out with a sharp knife! The new one, which I've easily kept clean for almost 3 years now, I just spray out with the kitchen spray hose, first inside, then from the outside along each section (sides and bottom). Takes only a minute. I also run it through the dishwasher every month or two and that's all it takes. I also give a quick rinse to the funnel that holds the filter. Easy to use, SUPERB coffee that stays hot and somehow doesn't get bitter nearly as quickly as with other coffee makers and coffee brands. Great features: select how long to grind, how strong to make, when to start brewing (immediately, or program), etc. Love it and will likely buy another just to stash in the basement to have when this one eventually goes. As grinders go, it isn't very loud, though if our bedroom door is open, we do hear it go off in the morning...this has become a very happy sound association. After over eight years, we still get excited about getting up for a cup of Lavazza Top Class, freshly ground and brewed in an EXCELLENT coffee maker. Lower maintenance than the pricey super-automatics, way more affordable, easy cleaning, and--best of all--amazing coffee. Highly recommend.

Great coffee maker but no replacement carafe available
We've owned several coffee makers over the years but for the last 20+ have always used a 'grind and brew' approach. Our first grind-enabled coffee machine was a Melitta, nearly identical in design to this one. After several plastic pieces broke (as a result of a drop) I could no longer find this style (blade grinder built into the filter basket). Ultimately we decided to upgrade to a burr-grinder design (Cuisinart). At the time those were very expensive. We've pretty much used that model ever since. However, after having a few of those fail on us, I went searching and was pleased to find the Black and Decker was now making a nearly identical product to our first Melitta.I find this design much simpler to use and clean than the burr grinder models that have the bean storage on top. After making coffee you simply remove the filter/case, dump the used grounds in your compost (or trash), and rinse everything out. Very easy and don't mind the reviews that talk about 'sludge'. If you have your grind setting set for a long period of time (based on the number of cups you want to make) you may get some 'very fine' grounds at the bottom, but you can adjust the grind time by selecting smaller numbers of cups. I recommend playing with this until you find your perfect cup. I generally put in fewer tablespoons of beans, and then set the grind for even fewer than that. As an example, for 10 cups of coffee I put in 8 scoops, set the grind to 6 and the coffee is delicious. We use roasted (ie oily) beans so the coffee tends to be stronger. As for the coffee temperature, I tested it coming from the filter basket into the coffee pot and it is around 179. That is not ideal but about the same as most coffee makers out there. I wasn't able to test the water temp coming into the filter basket but it's probably lower than the recommended 195+. I looked for inexpensive coffee pots that achieve the 'ideal' brew temperature range but was unable to find any.In a nutshell, this is an easy to use, easy to clean, easy to program grind and brew coffee maker. It's a pretty good value if not a little wider than necessary. I like the access to the water chamber, the pour from the carafe, and the aesthetic is ok.HOWEVER, the reason for the 1 star drop from a 5 star rating is I accidentally broke the carafe while cleaning it. In doing searches there appears to be no replacement carafe available. There are carafes for many other B&D models, just not this one. The replacement on their website is out of stock with no foreseeable availability date. I'll continue to try to find one or use some other model that can hopefully fit, but in the meantime we'll be buying a different brand grind and brew coffee maker because who doesn't need their morning coffee?

Good quality mill and brew coffee maker
For the price and quality the Black + Decker does a great job of making a great tasting cup of coffee. It's simple to set up and use. Not loud n my opinion.
