Very easy to read, and uderstand, straight to the point!
Oh! I love this book so much! I buy it, because I follow Veronica Winters on YouTube and she is an amazing Artist! The book is very organized into themes, first she talks about the materials and the ones she prefers. She talks about the importance of light, composition and has some step-by-step exercises. The measurements of this book is: 10" 3/4 long and 8" 1/4 wide. It is not a thick book, it's thin, but it goes straight to the point. This book is highly recommended for beginners Colored Pencils Artist, you need to know this information! It's a very interesting book! It's not boring, and easy to understand. There are some materials that are already discontinued, it's a shame, because they were good. It's a 2018 edition, which I understand must be updated. But I recommend it 100%🥰❤️❤️❤️

A General Overview
The good thing about this book is that it is new. She has a relatively limited palette of Prismacolor pencils that she uses, although she goes over the other brands. Her own personal POV is different --- most artists suggest using oil-based pencils for the foundational level, and then wax-based on top of that (for burnishing,etc.). She does wax-based mostly and recommends oil-based on top for details. There isn't anything bad about the book, but there also isn't anything wonderful. I have an extensive library of books on colored pencil, this is just another. But if you don't have many books, and are looking for help I would suggest Ann Swan's book for botanicals or Alyona Nickelsen's Colored Pencil Painting Bible --- both books are fantastic and super helpful.

Helpful information on how to work in colored pencil
I have worked in colored pencil for a few years now , but don't have much time to draw . I have a full time job and a household . But I love working in colored pencil and this book is very helpful for beginners . It goes over most of the best brands of colored pencil , sort by sort : first the wax-Based , then the water soluble pencil , then wax pastels and drawing media : pencils combined with water paints as background . It also covers the best sort of paper to use and all the techniques you need to get started . I like specially the color charts at the back , those are very useful .

Wonderful colored pencil book, for all levels of skill and experience
I just received this newest book by Veronica Winters, The Colored Pencil Manual, and am absolutely thrilled with the contents. The author describes it as a book for beginners (which I am not) but in my opinion, the range of subjects and the comprehensive coverage of them, the step-by-step instructions and beautiful color references make this an excellent reference for both beginner and experienced colored pencil artists. I have other books by Winters, but this one is especially outstanding. I confess to buying every colored pencil book I can get my hands on and so far, this is my favorite. It's just a very high-quality book. This is my new CP bible! I highly recommend it.Pat Hull

Men här dundrar värdefull information in från första sidan. Jag är överraskad; positivt överraskad. Författarinnan till verkligen hjälpa läsaren på traven, ge en förståelse för hur de olika färgpennor a fungerar och reagerar ihop med olika papperskvaliteter t ex. Full pott!

Very good overview with condensed information about colored pencil tequniques
The book is well structured, gives a very good introduction about materials and describes their properties including advantages and disadvantages. What I liked very much is the detailed description of blending materials and techniques, especially the passages about solvents which I didn`t find in other books at this precise short scope with tips. A chapter about composition guidelines with examples from the old masters illustrate in brief what is important to create attention and lead the viewer`s eye through a picture. How to create forms, volume and understand color theory prepare the reader before getting started. The book is completed with step-by-step examples well illustrated to help students in their practical attempts. The book`s focus is on student`s learning and trying. It is not a kind of catalogue of artist`s works, like many other books about this topic are. Though I still find it inspiring as it motivates to start drawing. In summary, there is a lot of practical information, I am very glad that I bought this book.
