The best LANC bar I've ever used
The best LANC bar I've ever used. Works perfectly with my Canon XA10 digital camcorder. The only downside is that I haven't found out how to enable the Iris +/- adjustment buttons. Manfrotto merely states in the compatibility chart on their website that the support for the iris control "varies from model to model", so there's really no way of telling 100% sure whether or not it'll work as intended with your camera setup, but I think I can manage without that feature. One important thing to notice is that the LANC Pan Bar is obviously meant for the newer/bigger Manfrotto camcorder head series. However, as I'm using a 701HDV camera head which is obviously too small for the pan bar, I was cheerfully surprised to find out that the handle fits to the camera head with no problems at all! Only the exterior "sharkteeth" locking ring won't match, but the handle still locks in very tight to the camera head, which is great.I'm hoping that the unit will last for a long time in professional field use. After with just a few days of trying it out, I can't imagine doing any camerawork without one of these. Definitely recommended!

Awkward Positioning & Zooms on own accord
1st impression was a sturdy and good quality zoom handle, with additional features like swapping from zoom to focus without touching the camera. An improvement over the Varizoom we currently use. However, 2 issues arose - 1 i can live with, the other no....1) The can be moved around to get a comfortable grip, but this then meant the zoom control was in the wrong place for me. Felt uncomfortable, but i could live with that2) around 25% of the time, with a still shot, and not touching the zoom control part, the camera would start to zoom in very slowly, but noticeable, and if not corrected would make the shot incorrect. If I want to just set up a camera to do an interview and look after another camera, i want to be confident the camera has not zoomed in to their face after 20 seconds. This happened multiple times and on the 1st use of the camera.Item is being returned - i can't have a zoom control which is not doing as i need it to do, especially for nearly £280. My £70 ones (we have 5) don't do this.

Top notch
I already owned a Manfrotto control, but needed one for my Manfrotto MVH502A fluid head, this bar is a great replacement as it matches the original bar exactly, I find that the zoom and focus are very intuitive and can be easily controlled from the bar - you need to make sure you are getting the correct one as the connections to the Camcorder vary from the different manufactures (Canon is different from say Panasonic) - I believe my pro camcorder cannot use the Iris control at least I cannot find a way to do this at the moment, but still very glad I bought such s well-made & designed product.

Excellent remote control unit that actually works with my Sony PXW-X70 (other cables needed though)
I purchased this Remote Control to work with my Sony PXW-X70 and it works very well. The unit is well constructed and most of the command options do work with the PXW-X70.Most importantly is allows for a variable zoom control which is a must for slow controlled zooms during live events. You do also require Sony VMCAVM1 cable as well as a bi-directional AV cable similar to the Manfrotto 522AV (which does NOT work with the X70 camera as it's uni-directional).

Good quality zoom handle
Good finnish, works OK. It has a problem with Sony X70, slow zooms are not possible. Works better with Canon.
