Light and sensitive, but not durable
I purchased this rod last summer and loved it, very light and sensitive with great backbone, the handle is also very nice in that your hand is mostly in contact with the cork not the metal from the reel which can be cold in spring and fall. However, the tip broke when I tried to loosen a snag, probably my fault, but maybe not, read on. Liking the rod so much I purchased another this spring, on the second fishing trip I hoisted a 12" white bass over the side of the boat, the rod snapped 2 feet from the tip. I was using 4# line so if anything the line should have broken not the rod. So with two breakages in relatively light use, I believe the durability of this rod is not very good. This is a review of the replacement rod that I purchased for the one that broke. I spoke with Fenwick and they said the rod should not have broken like it did. I decided to give another rod a try. So far so good. I will be a bit more careful with putting stress on thhe rod. It truly is a fantstic rod. I hope this one holds up.

Doesn't Stand Behind Warranty
I decided to go with the Fenwick Elite Tech over the St. Croix rod because of the life time warranty. Well 4 years later after purchasing the Rod from Gander MTN (which is no longer) the rod got brittle, cracked, and bent over like a noodle when tension was placed on the rod. See my attached photos. They have since changed the design of the rod. I wonder why must have had issues with my version?? I went to claim warranty replacement. Without even seeing the rod they deemed it not a manufactures defect. They replied with they will sell me a rod at a discounted price. Buy a rod from a company that stands behind their warranties. I was very displeased with their customer service and after the experience I have gone through would not recommend buying a Fenwick Rod.
