Small lip but fits a 3-inch hole, lids are incredibly useful
So useful for my own hydroponics projects I've ordered this twice! Fits the top of wide mouth Mason Jars perfectly, used that to start the growth of a ton of basil. Moved those to a Deep Water Culture setup using a 3 inch hole saw to drill the top out of some totes and these fit perfectly. The lids are useful to keep out light and it gives some strength to the netpot itself(not that I've needed it, but results may vary). The lid also keeps in hydroton(expanded clay balls) if you use that in the netpots themselves. So far I've used this for basil, cilantro and peppers and these have been brilliant, I keep them separate from my other netpots so I always know where my good ones are. And if I need to harvest(or remove) any plants I can just fit some aluminum foil in between the netpot and the lid and the lid keeps it down, literally ZERO light can get through so no algae growth in the reservoir! I'd personally recommend these for simple hydroponics projects.

Fits wide mouth canning jars, but not much space for root growth on pint jars...
I haven’t used this product yet, but I bought everything I need for it. One thing I noticed is that it fits wide mouth Ball jars. I hesitate to say that the pint, or 16oz, jars are too small. I have only fitted the basket, not grown anything. My next concern is that I’m not sure if I will be able to stabilize a one and a half pint jar, or 24 oz jar, with what I will be growing. Also, for those of you who don’t understand using the tops, this is important to reduce algae growth. I bought clay to use with these. So I’m not sure if algae grows on clay yet, but I know it will affect sponges. I will update this review when I find out. Happy planting!

Lids can be used to snap on
I used this to transfer pods from an Aerogarden to a Kratky jar. This fits a wide mouth canning jar perfectly. However, when I order again I will order the ones without the lids.I thought having lids would make it easier to keep out light and algae. However the lids can be difficult to snap into place and they are hard to bend enough to get around a mature plant. The pots are good quality, but skip the lids.

Not as depicted. Drawing needs to be revised
The drawing shows the bottom diameter dimension to be 3", when in fact, it's only bout 2 1/4 to 2- 1/2" there. The top outside rim is at 3", so a 3" hole does not work well because there's not enough of a sturdy rim to hold the poor in the hole securely. So, this was a waste of money for my use. They seemed sturdy enough but can't verify because I can't actually use them.

Got what I needed and great price
These are great size, I like putting my juvenile plants into these now. White lids work for making down strain names.
