A test of marital trust
Update: this patch worked for two years! At the start of the 3rd summer, our friends were here with their young kids. One of them kindly emerged from underwater in her goggles and handed me a weird plastic rubbery thing that she found stuck to the bottom of the pool. I don’t know if she pulled it off or if it was loose and floating. So, we repeated the processes outlined below. We are hosting our son’s grad party in a month and I have a feeling the patch won’t last the event, so we will likely be patching again, but we are basically experts now.Ok, so when it says you can use this underwater, be thoughtful about where under the water you need to use it. We realized after opening our pool that we had a tear on the floor of the liner. My husband tried to patch it once, doing the swim-down-and-kick-like-hell-and-use-your-foot-to-smooth-it-out method. It stuck, but water was still slowly seeping out.So I gave up and and called Eric the Pool Dr, recommended by my neighbor. Turns out Pool Dr sold his business, but talked me through the process: you have to cut the patch 2-3x the size of the hole, slather it like crazy and fold it over. Then swim down, use something to hold yourself down, and use a plastic putty knife to get all the bubbles out.So, one afternoon we tried again. First we had to pull off the old patch, and it was on there pretty good, so the stuff sticks! We sunk a kettle bell, my husband put on a pair of our kids' crappy goggles, and I prepped the patch while he thought about his strategy and did some recon missions. Our method required me to put pressure on his back/butt, HOLDING HIM DOWN UNDER THE WATER, while he opened the patch and placed it, then grasped the kettle bell with one hand and used the puttly knife to get out all the air bubbles with the other. This process required coming up for breath a few times, each time with me subsequently pushing him back under the water. We have been married for 17 years. This was a true test of the trust in our marriage. It was a little bit terrifying. We appear to no longer be losing water though this ground hole, and nobody drowned. Still, I hope if we have to patch again, we will do so when the pool isn't quite full.

Very good
Ease of installation:This has been a great product for our pool! We somehow get small leaks every year and these patches have held up for years at this point. The glue is a good quantity and comes with plenty of patches. I’d definitely recommend for anyone with a pool or something they need to patch underwater consistently!

Refund was issued
Glue is dried out. Best by date was 2023. It's 2025. Old glue won't work. Do not buy. Oh and no returns are accepted. Not a happy customer.......

Product was defective
I know this product works great, that's why we bought it. We wanted it on hand if we ever needed it. From previous experience, I knew it should be kept indoors for safe storage. We finally needed to use the patch kit and when I opened it, the bottle was only about 1/4 full and gummy. It should have been a thick liquid. I could hardly spread it on the patch. We are attempting to use it, but I don't think it will work. Of course, the window to return product was about a week ago. I will buy this again, but probably make sure it's a different seller, and make sure the product is not defective as soon as it's received.

My pool store gave me a left over piece of pool liner that matched the color of mine (free) and told me it would make for a better patch. Got 18 year old grandson to swim ...
Have a 20 year plus pool liner. It developed a small 1/2 inch slit in bottom. Losing about 1/4 inch in water level every three to four days. Purchased this for repair after checking reviews (also checked out youtube video for instructions. I did not use the patch material provided with kit.My pool store gave me a left over piece of pool liner that matched the color of mine (free) and told me it would make for a better patch. Got 18 year old grandson to swim down and make repair. Followed directions, Cut a four inch circle, applied this glue and applied over slit. Placed a 8x8 inch paving brick on it and let it sit for 24 hours. He again swam down removed brick and checked patch. It has bonded well. No more water loss. If it holds like some say for about a year or two I will be happy cause it will be time to replace liner as it's beyond manufacturer's warranty.CAUTION: use face mask for eye protection and try to keep glue away from hair (long haired grandson should have worn a shower cap) Cut the patch three to four inches larger than area to be repaired as it causes a chemical reaction and melts or welds into original liner making the originalhole larger. Some had reported that glue was thin or watery but we covered entire patch and folded it like a taco and once it came into contact with water and the original vinyl liner, it set up with one minute. I am well pleased-can hardly see the patch or the edge outline in pool bottom.

Must get if you have a vinyl pool
I was able to extend the life of a vinyl pool for 3 swim season leaving it up year round! I could have probably extended the life longer but we opted for a new pool. I had tried the epoxy jweld but it failed miserably. I was not sure how well it would work but this stuff is amazing. I recommend a two person team. One giving you the vinyl piece and glue and one sticking it under water. This product works underwater! No need to drain the pool. This is what I have learned. You need to cut the vinyl patch in a circle. Before we started we would use pennies or coins to help us find all the small cuts and prepare before starting(cutting vinyl circles). The outside person puts glue on the round vinyl piece (use enough) then fold it it half (makes a half circle) and hand it to the person inside the pool (wearing a diving mask or goggles helps). The inside pool person dives and unfolds right as they cover the cut. That’s it! Boom! You are done and the leak stops. Hope this helps you!
