Our back-up generator when we cannot buy gasoline.
Our 15-year old gasoline generator died in the middle of the Texas Freeze this past February. We replaced it with a bigger gasoline generator. Then hackers took down the Colonial Gasoline Pipeline, and we realized we need to have a back-up to our standard electric generator back-up (in case we cannot buy gasoline during prolonged electric outages). We also bought this for a family member who had no generator. Because of no carbon dioxide emissions, as with the gasoline generator, this one could be used inside at times, which makes it excellent for apartments with balconies facing the sun. It is a little big, so storage might be a problem for some people. It takes two people to assemble the solar panels, but it isn’t hard to do. We keep it fully charged by plugging it into the house current on the first day of the month for a few hours. For unexpected outages, we will go to this one first. But when we know to prepare in advance for hurricanes or another bitter freeze forecast, we will start with our gasoline one, and use this one to supplement.

Shut down in only 6 hours when we lost power due to hurricane
Bought in 2021 for backup in case of hurricane. Never needed it until Milton in October of 2024. Running only refrigerator and CPAP and shut down after approximately 7 hours. Now doesn’t seem to recharge. No returned call from Support.

Jury is still out...
This product is a well conceived setup for portable use. 300 Watts is not much, but enough for a camper. I purchased the system to learn more about my on-grid system. I am a electrical engineer that has become concerned with the support of my grid-tied system. It seems that many consumers are being sold solar systems that are fantastic work well after installed, and save on electric bills (yeah, you "feel good" too.) However, the companies that install them seems to go out of business within years. Furthermore, the systems have long period of ROI if ever. So, having as systems will reduce your bills, but pays off more as the electric rates increase. Mine has a ROI of at least 25 years. To add to the consideration, getting support can be frustrating for simple things. The micro inverters that are used with many panels (this product does not have micro inverters with the panels). Micro-inverters are proprietary and no information on their computer control is allowed. The inverter included with the systems is not documented for consumer repair as far as I can see, but is certainly able to be replaced (definitely the batteries with require replacing at some point.) For larger grid-tied systems, in the worse case if your system is down for days due to a weather related or hacking event, what do you do? That is, when the grid is down, so is your systems. I decided to become more intimately familiar with the technology so that I am less dependent on foreign owned suppliers. That is, if the panels are good, what can I replace or design to get the system working again off-grid. Due to the here today, gone tomorrow of the solar installer community, there are some serious flaws in the "green" energy supply chain that probably require laws to protect the consumers. Solar is a great technology and I support it. However, if you are not technically inclined, your $5,000 - $50,000 investment may be at risk, IMO, due to lack of here today gone tomorrow installers. Bottom line is that being aware of the risks and mitigating the risks is prudent. In a nut-shell, this system is not designed, IMO, for reliable long-term residential backup for your home. It is more for mobile power needs. For me, it is a working laboratory to learn.

I would buy again
Love that this is solar not gas. Can easily store in the house.

AC Panel Replacement
I own two of these which are manufactured by Huntkey USA. Both of mine worked perfectly until two months ago when the three socket AC panel on each one ceased working at about the same time. The twelve volt DC socket continues to have power, and an inverter can be plugged into it; however, the available total watts from the DC socket is not nearly enough for any meaningful use of the generator. Thus far, I have received no response regarding how to repair this or even obtain a replacement part. I would advise everyone who owns one of these to contact Huntkey USA and whoever you bought it from, and you need to ask who will replace the three socket AC panel when it no longer has provides AC power to your AC equipment. Again, I repeat, my generators worked perfectly until the AC panel no longer had power running to the three sockets. I had followed the instruction manual to the letter in every aspect. Even with this having happened to my two solar generators, I am considering buying another one of these from Huntkey USA.

Nice unit, but parts missing
My Platinum system is now up and running. I am 74 yrs old and was able to put the 3 solar panels together. A little time consuming, but definitely doable, Because of the design, I was able to roll them to their permanent area, secure them and plug them into their 50 ft. cables. Plugged them into the power pod and because I had the generator already charged, I'm set to go. Nice set up and so far works as advertised.
