Safety
This fire blanket is very thick and heavy. It's made big. Love it. It's made for the teens older and up. A child would definitely need help.

Great to have just in case
Fortunately, we have not had to use this yet & I hope we never will. I believe in being proactive & prepared, so when I saw this fireproof cloak it seemed like a must have item to have. It is quite thick, understandably so, & it feels like it will do its just in the event we ever do need to pass by or through a fire. It's pretty large when it unfolds which makes me feel better because our son is still young & one of us would be able to fit in this while holding onto our son. Because we have a gas range in the kitchen & the garage is right outside our kitchen door (I think fires often start in the garage too), we are keeping this in the living room (vs. the garage) to access. I hope we will never need to use this, but if we do, I feel like it will save our lives.

Fashion it is not but it just might save you!
Ever since a fire truck raced past me and beat me to the embers of a room I once rented as a student, the sound of an emergency siren brings back painful memories and visions of what could’ve been a much worse situation. When I saw this and checked it out, it seemed like a no brainer. It’s large and thick enough to wrap most adults and give them time to escape a fire situation. It’s a protection against naked flame, less so heat but it gives me the peace of mind to be able to don this if the time comes. It is suitable for adults but smaller children might need help and your closeness.

Fire Safety
I hope that we'll never have to test how useful this is, but the peace of mind from having it is priceless. You never know when disaster might strike and if this helps us get to and through the stairwell and out of the building, then I'll be glad for the storage space it takes. It seems like a good size and feels solid in the package. I am confident that it'll provide the right protection if that's ever needed.

Good design for quick application and full body protection
I'm a Paramedic who works side by side with Firefighters almost everyday. I have seen first hand and treated hundreds of burn patients over 20 years and I know what damage is done by just the synthetic fabrics some clothes are made of that catch fire from something as simple as stove, knocked over candle, or a grill fire that got out of hand. This is going to the top of the list as necessary safety equipment for the home. I could think of so many places this would be useful for emergency use including the car. This is so easy to throw on quickly in an emergency and once you try it on you will always know how to in the future and I always recommend knowing how to use any piece of emergency equipment beforehand. I showed this to a few of my coworkers tonight and the two questions they asked were, how much does it cost and where do I get it? Please note that this is not heat proof but flame proof. What it will do is keep flames off you directly to help you escape a dangerous and possibly a deadly situation with as minimal damage to your body. It also can be used to smother out flames of something or someone on fire. My daughter was taught how to use a fire blanket already but I'm going to show her this and show her how to put it on to keep in her room upstairs just for her and my piece of mind as this can be donned really quickly. I also recommend that you store this in a manner of easiest application with the head being the first part of your body you protect after you try it on by either rolling it or folding with the hood portion exposed. Your eyes, nose, and mouth are the first priority to be protected in a fire. This is a great product that neither I nor my family will hopefully never need to use. Recommended purchase!

Hope I don't need it, but glad I have it.
I live an area prone to wild fires. Supposedly this cloak could potentially save your life if caught in a firestorm. It's bulky, heavy and from the tests I've done very fire resistant. I don't want to say proof because nothing is fire proof. The only thing about the cloak is I'm not the biggest guy in the world and when I wrap myself in it it barely overlaps, so if you were say the size of the average firefighter you will have a gap in your front, which would expose well pretty much the most important part of yourself to the flames and heat. Who knows how I would actually use it during an actual fire but I have a great piece of mind to know it's ready in my emergency supply kit.
