Diet For Divine Connection: Beyond Junk Foods and Junk Thoughts to At-Will Spiritual Connection

New insights and reminders of the best-of-the best
Having read all the books (several times each!) that Margaret Paul has written, I thought I knew everything there was to know about Inner Bonding. But her most recent book, DIET FOR DIVINE CONNECTION, brought me both new insights and reminders of the “best-of-the-best” principles and ideas of this revolutionary approach to taking personal responsibility for your life. There are many great reminders in the book: the difference between guilt and shame, the illusion of control that drives us, the false belief that someone else is abandoning us, the understanding that feelings of anxiety are our teachers, the ability to recognize that our resistance to being controlled leads to our being controlled by our resistance, learning that every addiction has its roots in the intent to control pain, and most of the problems people suffer from stem from how they handle the life events rather than the events themselves.I was amazed by the research and documentation that the author provided, especially about the healthy gut. We are discovering every day new information about the role a healthy gut plays in our total body fitness. What is unusual about this book is that it clearly, with much research, backs up its premise that healthy eating has both short-term and long-range effects on not only our body, but our psychological state, our mental health, and our spirituality.I was particularly taken by the number of interesting and relatable metaphors in the book: low energy is like having no electricity at night or trying to see through a dirty, fogged-up window; attempting to run our lives by the wounded self is like trying to run on batteries. My favorite metaphor compared eating at McDonald’s to putting a bell jar over your body; this creates low vibrancy due to stuffing oneself with junk food and indulging in junk thoughts. (I immediately thought of Trump and his extreme lack of spirituality, no matter his protestations of being a Christian.)What is particularly useful in this book is the emphasis on understanding the six areas of responsibility (physical, emotional, relational, organizational, financial, and spiritual) and how the failure to develop a loving inner adult in any of them is a form of self-abandonment. And we are reminded that we always have a choice - to be in the wounded self or to operate from the loving adult. Each time we choose the loving adult, we create new neural pathways in the brain. We complete the cycle: healthy eating, healthy gut, healthy body, healthy thoughts, and healthy love.

Diet for Divine Connection: Insightful, Down-to-Earth, and Real
As always, Dr. Paul hits the proverbial nail on the head. At least for me, this is a timely and incredibly insightful look into how we can both improve our physical health and vitality -- assisting our bodies to become the divine instruments they were designed to be -- while upping our spiritual game by increasing our vibration to solidify the link between the physical reality of our being and the spiritual essence that animates it. In her down-to-earth and humble way, Dr. Paul brilliantly illustrates how we can mindfully use the fuel we choose to feed our bodies to create a strong, consistent channel of access to the Heavenly Realms for Divine Guidance and the Angelic connections that feed our souls and bring clarity to our lives. The suggestions are simply to understand and implement and do not involve radical lifestyle changes, special equipment, or financial investment ... instead, it's about shifting our perspective regarding the part we play in the body-spirit equation, and expanding our understanding of how diet can support and intensify our ability to connect with spirit, revealing a different vision of what it looks like to truly love and honor our "self" and care for the vehicle that carries us through this life.

This Book is Full of Wisdom
This is an insightful new book from Dr. Margaret Paul, who along with Dr. Erika Chopich, pioneered the powerful self-healing process called Inner Bonding. I have personally found Inner Bonding to be the most practical, effective and transformational approach to becoming a loving, engaged, and happy human being, and I am deeply grateful for guidance I have received from Margaret’s work. In this book, Margaret explains the critical role that our diet and food sources have on our spiritual well being and how they affect our capacity for divine connection. If that were not enough, the book contains a wealth of information on the adulteration of our food sources, the importance of the biology around the microbiome (our gut bacteria), and how nutrition affects the cellular inflammatory processes. I found the discussion very informative and well referenced. Importantly, rather than recommending a one size fits all approach to diet and nutrition, Margaret wisely recommends that the reader consume foods as close as possible to natural and tune in to the individual effects of their choices. The book provides detailed guidance on how to do this successfully and establish a diet of foods that support your vibrancy and divine connection.

Very readable and quite deep at times
A lot of people are put off by the idea of anything "divine" or "spiritual". But if you understand that everything is energy you can read this book from a scientific viewpoint. If you doubt that then first read "Mind Power into the 21st Century" by John Kehoe. Dr Margaret allows for any interpretation you want to put on this energy thing. But in order to experience it you have to be eating healthily. Now the bit I like is that Dr Margaret doesn't embrace any one diet system, of which there are many - often in conflict - and all claiming to be right for everyone. Not so, says Dr M. With the proviso that you do not eat non-foods, Dr M says if you really get in touch with your body it will tell you what is right for you.Dr Margaret than goes on to explain in very great detail her "Inner Bonding" practice which first of all enables you to get in touch with yourself and your own feelings, which many people have suppressed in order to avoid feeling pain. Dr Margaret says we must not avoid our feelings, even the painful ones; we should move toward the pain, not away from it, embrace the child within us which is the "feeling self" and re-parent ourselves the way we wish our parents had done. The process involves dialoguing with the inner child, the wounded self, and the higher self, to find the truth about false beliefs we have acquired. The goal is to develop the loving adult self and put that in charge of your life, instead of letting the wounded child sabotage (through irrational fear) everything you try to achieve. The book emphasises the need to love yourself, a concept which sticks in the throats of many people, who are conditioned to think that loving yourself is selfish. Dr Margaret shows how it is the opposite of selfishness, because you can't love anyone else unless you love yourself. I was reading this on a plane when the emergency drill came on. As they said "put your own oxygen mask in place before helping anyone else" I thought yes, that is a good analogy. That is not selfish, because you can't help anyone if you are passing out for lack of oxygen.I thought this was an interesting book, very readable and quite deep at times.

Eat healthfully to raise your frequency to make transformational changes!
Diet for Divine Connection has really helped me to consolidate an intuitive eating and spiritual nutrition approach in my life. It’s not easy transforming one’s life and changing one’s identity, habits, thoughts, beliefs and behaviour can be an uphill struggle. We already know so much about the gut-brain Connection and that ‘good gut health comes first’. This book has really helped me to understand the importance of the gut-brain-spirit Connection and how to eat well to raise my frequency which helps me to make changes at all levels in my life. The book explains the 6 step Inner Bonding process and inner Bonding concepts such as the wounded self and true self. For me it’s essential reading and the only self help book that I’ve actually bought this year because it’s such a useful blend of practical advice and pragmatic spiritual science to divine connection, diet and Practicing the 6 step inner Bonding process. It’s helped me to heal core false beliefs and conditioning from childhood pain and trauma so that I can maintain a regular practice that encompasses good diet, exercise and lifestyle habits. Most importantly the inner Bonding process helps me to access truth and healing that’s in my highest good and take actions from my loving adult and generally cultivate more self love within myself so that I can be more loving to others.

A life changing read
I have read some of Dr Paul’s articles before and felt the benefit of her wisdom, however this book takes that to a new level. She understands how painful life can be and how we can heal ourselves. She asks that we take responsibility by looking at our unkind thoughts and behaviours towards ourselves, with a particular focus on unhealthy eating. It is scary but ultimately empowering to accept our own habits and beliefs shape our life experience. Her writing has a very nurturing feel and many of the questions I have had about my approach to relationship conflicts were answered compassionately here.I would recommend to anyone ready to look at how they contribute to their own suffering and want to experience a beautiful and abundant life.
